I had a dream last night
What a bizarre dream to wake up with:
I've seen this place before. It was in my dreams a few months back. A very large church, but the most telling aspect was the weather. That's what I recognized in last nights dream. Very gray, just past dusk, drizzily and cold enough for ice rain. In the previous dream I had visited this church to see a friend teach, and when the service was over I headed to my car … but couldn't find it. I saw everyone driving away while I walked and walked around the church trying to find my car. I got so scared of being alone, abandoned.
Last night's dream was held at that exact same place. And the same kind of inclement weather. But this time, for some reason my car was inside the church and I had to get it outside to drive away. My same friend was there this time, and he went outside to clear away all the debris in front of the driveway while I stayed inside and needed to clear away this mass pile of broken and discarded toys that were in front of the garage door on the inside. There were kids playing on the floor and I was so disgusted because these kids were spoiled with too many toys that they never used. I mumbled constantly, mad at their waste of wealth.
I'm tossing stuff aside and hear glass breaking in the stairwell. I run over to see my friend in a frantic state, falling as he tried to climb the stairs. His feet and hands were bound in chains. He was tying to clear the path for me, but these chains made it so awkward and he kept breaking glass. I looked at his face which showed desperation but more than that, a horrible dreaded fear. What concerned him the most was all the glass he was breaking and he tried so hard not to, but every turn he made, the chains would bang against something and shatter it.
It's that face that stays with me, even now. Such a mixture of sadness and fear.
