... and besides

What's wrong with partisan bickering? Isn't that a good thing? It demonstrates passion. The same passion the gentlemen had when they formed the constitution. This is a good thing.

Those who took to the streets to protest Vietnam, (and I be one of them) had a cause that was definable. Not like today, where  in the streets of Seatlle I heard, "we're against corporate America." HUH? What the hell does that mean? The cell you're using, the shoes you wear, the car you drive ... you can thank Corporate America for those. In the 60's we sacrificed for the cause. Not today. Although I'm glad to see people taking to the streets, and thankful the young are involved and passionate about this war in Iraq. I wonder how much they really are ready to give up.

With age, we mellow a bit, and hopefully see a bigger picture.

I sound like an old codger, I know.

And why this continual hyperbole about " now it's time to unite the country." How the hell is a president going to do that anyway. Continual conceding? Abdicating his beliefs? No ... to lead, a person needs convictions and the guts to stand by them. Even though I despise the woman, Hillary Clinton has guts. 10 fold more than her husband. That's admirable.

Local politics have become so much more important to me. Proposition 71 passed. This is not a good thing for California. My local city council remained the same and I'm thankful for that. The school bond failed. Good. Local politics hit  homewith a stronger punch, than who sits in the White House. I hope those who demonstrated a new interest in the government and it's workings will take that and get involved locally. It's so important.

okay ... off to the steam room I go.
