This is the day that I have dubbed The Great Pastry Whirlwind Tour.
I had typed in something about Pastry Shops in Omaha simply into
Google to search. I got about elven pages of shops. I started out by deleting all the duplicates. Than i crossed a couple off that I had tried and knew that Bea would not like. Then we looked through all the websites and marked what we thought was best. According to some people at work, we actually missed a couple of places downtown but we hit so many that I don't think either one of us feels guilty for missing any.
At first I wasn't even sure where to start but we put all the address into
MapQuest and let it figure it out for us. Brilliant! This is what the map looked like:
Actually there were a couple more but we edited them out and went other days. I know that the one looks way far off from the others and it sort of was but it was also out by where I work. Which was perfect because we picked up crafting supplies.
Here is what is boils down to:
B -
Jones Brothers Cupcakes
C -
La CharlotteD -
DeliceE -
Bliss BakeryF -
Wheatfield's Eatery and Bakery
G - Sweet Magnolia (which apparently the Omaha one does not have a website and I confused it with the
pretty looking one in Illinois)
H -
Le Quartier (this ended up being our favorite)
I -
Le Petit Paris I am going to break down this day into separate posts over the span of a couple of weeks so that I can do a post for each individual bakery that we went to. However, here are some snapshots from the day itself and the table full of yummies.
Jone's Brothers. Super adorable signage!
It looks so good and we got a late start.
Look how much is already missing!
We left with a cheesecake and a lemon drop cupcake
This is Delice. By this time it was well into lunchtime and were hungry. It made it hard to decide what to get and the parking meter may or may not have run out. XD
On the left there were salads and croissant/sandwich options.
Plenty of sweets to choose from though.
Bea got the beet salad with an eggplant panini.
It was super delicious except that the beets seemed to taste odd after the first few bites.
I got the spinach and bacon and cheese croissant with dill potato salad. Mine was all good but entirely too hot. I had to wait to eat it.
It was very busy in Wheatfield's and we only managed to get a picture of the door. Everything here was giant!
This is Sweet Magnolia and we almost missed it!
This was a very small shop and it was getting late in the afternoon so there was not a lot to take pictures of.
Turns out that they crank out superb breads, pastries, and a lunch menu.
The last one!
Everything was so pretty.
It was so hard to choose!
I love the look of the Coconut orange treat but we didn't want that due to allergies.
And to the right there were lots of danishes and croissants!
Definitely filled up the back seat.
And the desk.
We threw in the asian treats a well that we had picked up and flavored gourmet chocolate!
It just doesn't end.
We couldn't wait to dive in!
Filled the shelf in the refrigerator while we weren't eating it!
What better way to end the day than with crafting! I had bought some ceramic owls for us to decorate.
Look what Bea and Octoplus did.
It took us several hours and we took breaks to fill up on sugary delights and Sherlock.
