Actually, now that i am thinking about it, I can't at all remember Friday. Oh yes! My sister was sick and I went with my Grandmother to take an old family friend/neighbor to a doctors appointment. She was a doll. Actually the whole experience was lovely, except the reasoning for being at the doctor's office. Grandma and I just chatted away though. Then we ran a couple more errands before returning home.
Friday night was another night that we had trouble deciding on a movie. The local Blockbuster is going out of business and so we were going to watch some of the movies that Grandma's husband picked out. We were going to watch
Goodnight for Justice but they had already seen it so we watched
Yellow Rock and
Hannah's Law. Grandma especially liked the second. I did too for that matter. I felt like Yellow Rock was missing a layer of depth.
Saturday was meeting the husband's family day! We drove over into Illinois to eat at a restaurant called
Lotawata Creek Southern Grill. It was good. It was crazy busy and we were there at 4:30 p.m. even.
We tried fried pickles with dipping sauce. Super delicious! Though the more I think on it, the more I wonder if i have not tried them before with someone. Maybe with Bea? I can't remember.
Oh! And we had rolls that were the size of hamburger buns but they were sure good! With oat grains on top and just the right amount of sweet served with whipped butter and whipped cinnamon butter.
I had a salad for supper because it was the cheapest thing at $12. Though perhaps if i had looked a little harder I could have found something else. The menu was big. Grandma, her husband, and my sister all got chicken fried chicken that was huge! I didn't take a picture of that though.
Oh yes, and I can't forget that we met his family. Two daughters and a son and son-in-law. All very nice people. His son came home with us to watch a movie!
We were going to watch
Silverado but could not figure out how to get the subtitles off and (while I don't mind) no one could stand to watch it with the titles on so we switched to
Dawn Rider. It was not bad but again, I felt like it was missing a layer of plot.
Sunday I was sick but I did manage to crawl out of bed and figured out how to get the subtitles off. I rested up a bit and used up all my energy to play a game of Mexican Train Dominoes. This is one of the funnest games ever. Also, I actually did the dishes also so that used up a bit of my energy. But the leftovers from Lotawata Creek were really good!
The movie that night, or at least that i made it through, was
Anne of the Thousand Days. The entire time we were watching it, I felt like it seemed familiar. Then there was one scene that clicked and I realized it had seemed familiar because I had seen it! It was still really good and I watched it through but then went to bed.
Of course, I kept mixing parts of it up with other movies i had seen. Henry VIII is always an interesting story to me.
My Monday has started and it is a bit gloomy but I shall update about it later. I hope everyone has a lovely President's Day!
