Desdemona Pussycat, as ever
Desdemona Pussycat was born February 27, 2012, we assume on a boat that had been covered and stored for the winter. She and her littermates were found there by the boat owners and were taken to Austin Pets Alive, apparently without the mother, and were bottle fed until they were weaned. She and her siblings were sent to a foster home in Westlake and that was where Claire went to see the kittens and choose Desi Cat, who was at that time being called Teena. The shelter accepted Claire's adoption application and their vet did her spaying operation (mandatory by their rules) before Claire was allowed to take her at 7 weeks of age. At that time we were referring to her as TKFKAT, which stands for The Kitten Formerly Known As Teena, but shortly after adoption, Claire named her Desi, after Desdemona from Shakespeare's "Othello.". Desi Cat came with us and is still here, due to an infection in her incision, an upper respiratory infection and a possible case if ringworm. We saw our vet yesterday for tests and will see him again on Saturday morning. She is 10 weeks old now, eating well and has doubled her weight when we got here!!!
