My new big miniature project is a polar explorer's hut. The structure is modeled roughly on Shackleton's hut at Cape Royds in Antarctica, but it's going to take inspiration from lots of other huts and explorers and expeditions. The hut and its contents, that is. A while ago I made some miniature Primus stoves, the first items for this project.

Ignore my bias; "Cape Royds" it is, and it looks SO LOVELY. You've captured the exact tint of wood that's been freeze-dried by a century of Antarctic chill. Really can't wait to see more of this!

Anyway. I decided to do Cape Royds because it was smaller, mostly. Cape Evans would have been big enough for me to sleep in it. (Maybe I'll have a Cape Evans coffin when I die.)

I like my floor too! I really need to vacuum it (I'm too lazy to sweep) because somehow I keep constantly getting saw dust and little wood shavings on it. I wonder why? So you can still see a lot of little bits that I didn't photo-edit out.

Ever thought of putting them on display?
I was looking at the miniature in Häme Castle, with it's shiny acrylic paintjob and lack of detail and thought you could have made it so much better...
