I was deeply saddened to learn this morning that my friend, kimbari passed away over the weekend. I don't know any details, only that her husband posted information about her memorial service to her facebook page

She hadn't been very active on LJ for awhile. I know that she had a seizure a few weeks ago, and was briefly hospitalized for tests. But they didn't find the cause and sent her home with medication and instructions not to drive. The last FB post I remember seeing from her was about her beadwork, and she seemed to be doing okay. So it seems like this was quite sudden.
*is sad* It's amazing how much someone can be a presence in your life when you've never met them in real life. The internet makes real life strange, doesn't it? I keep thinking about Kim and I never met her.
I know exactly what you mean. I watched the latest episode of Fringe and couldn't stop thinking about how I'd like to discuss it with her. I don't think that will ever go away.
Also, I was thinking about whether it would be a good idea to ask LJ to preserve her journal as a memorial journal -- something they mentioned could be done in their last update. What do you think? She posted a lot of great fanfic and observations there, but on the other hand, she had moved away from writing fic, and revealed a lot of very personal thoughts there. Do you think she'd want it saved, or not?
Wow, that's a good question. I'm really not sure. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have it memorialized...but, yeah, a lot of very personal thoughts, like you said. Then again, she didn't mind being very honest. I keep going back and forth.
Saving it would be something for her friends and family moreso than her, I suppose.
The more I think about it, the conclusion I've come to is no. While *I'd* like to see her fanfic preserved, I'm not sure it's what she'd want -- beyond what's already various archives. It will stay up until LJ does another purge, so at least a year, I think.
