I enjoyed watching the SOTU speech the other night. I loved what my husband said to our daughter when she complained about watching it, asking "Do we haaaave to??"
"Yep," he said, firmly, leaving no room for argument. "We're going to watch it together, because we're good citizens, and it is our duty as citizens to hear what the President has to say to us."
Booyah. Civic responsibility lessons have commenced. :)
Anyway, I just finished watching/listening to an 85 minute CSPAN clip. President Obama was in Baltimore speaking to and taking questions from the Republican caucus. It was awesome. He pretty much handed their asses to them on every question- but respectfully.
To quote Ezra Klein, "There's a value in proving that you understand the other side's ideas deeply enough to disagree with them."
