Long time between drinks and a re-release

Aug 05, 2011 10:55

I was unpleasantly surprised by the length of time that passed between my last post and this one. I should have updated sooner. However, I'm of two minds when it comes to author blogs. They're useful vehicles for introducing yourself to readers and give those who are interested updates on books. On the flip side, they can be minefields of TMI ( Read more... )

I hope to have Louisa do an interview about her artistic process and her approach to the creation of a book cover. If she agrees to it, I'll post here.

I think I could be persuaded! I'm saving steps of the Beauty and the Beast cover as I go.

I will go buy this book. But I dearly wish it was in print form too.

Isn't though? Louisa did a bang-up job with this book cover. I adore it.

If it has a respectable showing in digital format, I'll probably start the process on getting it put into print. I'm still recovering from the learning curve of conversion uploads. Blergh.

Downloaded last night from amazon. The cover looks great and I love the little image at the beginning of each chapter. I just wish there was some white space between chapters instead of having all the text bleed together.

Thanks for the sale, m'dear!

Grrrr! This just makes me gnash my teeth. I followed all the conversion instructions and ran the format through a Kindle previewer. Everything looked fine, and there were spaces between chapter headings. I suspected all might not be well when they put a disclaimer out there that just because it worked in the previewer, there was no guarantee it would be the same in the go-live.

Let me see what I can do to rectify that problem. I appreciate the heads-up!

I probably won't put the B&B tale in print unless I can bundle it with another story based on a common theme. The pricing structure for a print version isn't friendly to shorts and novella unless you put in at least two. If I can bundle it, I'll definitely release in print.

For MoC, I'll probably tackle putting it in print after the 1st of the year. :)

Isn't that cover beautiful? I love Louisa's work and was thrilled when she sent me the final for preview and approval.

Is There A Sequel? ext_885988 November 17 2011, 16:13:43 UTC
I bought your novel from Amazon and loved it and recommended it to my friends. My question here is I hear rumors that there may be a sequel. Any of this true? It was an outstanding effort and I can live with it as a stand-alone but a equally captivating sequel would be nice :)

Hi Douglas!

Thanks so much for picking up MoC and for recommending it to others. I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed it.

I do have a sequel in the very beginning stages, though I will say that Martise and Silhara play secondary roles in the sequel. This will focus on their only child, a daughter who falls in love with a Conclave priest--something sure to make the top of Silhara's head blow off.

It will be a few months before I can give it my full focus as I have 5 projects in the queue with one of those near completion and three others about 2/3rds of the way finished. Once I get those off my desk I can give it a lot more attention.

I'm looking forward to working on it as I'd like to revisit this world and write more about it.

Take care, and thanks very much for stopping by!
