Moving From Friends to Lovers

Laying in the dark, watching shadows playing on the wall, Rose sighed. Her stomach twisted just remembering the look in the Doctor’s eye as he stepped down from the window in the hospital to take her hand - his eyes, his whole being focused on her. She punched her pillow, trying for the thousandth time to try to sleep. The dance they had shared around the console room; she hadn’t missed the look the Doctor had thrown Jack after he had dipped her. It was a triumphant look of possession, “Mine”. Jack had respected the no trespassing signs the Doctor had posted - he’d still flirted of course - with both of them -he wouldn’t be Jack if he hadn’t - at least not the Jack she’d gotten to know so far. But somehow she knew he was “bigger on the inside”. But she’d think about that later - the Doctor’s joy at finding a solution just made her even more in love with him.

She knew he still had dark days where Gallifrey’s loss dragged down his thoughts; she’d find him in the console room, sitting staring at nothing - just drowning in memories. But not tonight; tonight they’d all danced, until the events of the day had finally caught up with her and she’d had to go to bed. But now, a couple of hours later, she’d awaked from a dream, a dream where she and the Doctor and had finally shared more than the hand holds and hugs that she lived for.

But what did the Doctor want? That was the question. Did he love her? Of course he did - the Doctor had a great capacity to love. She’d seen it on every planet he visited, every person they’d helped, and the fire in his eyes when he saw injustice. She’d felt it when he comforted her after her Dad died, seen it when he’d appeared in her room when she had a nightmare. But could he be in love with her? He’d lived so long, seen so much - what could she bring him as a lover that she didn’t give him now as a friend? They gave comfort to, and took comfort in each other. They had wonderful conversations, and easy silences. He seemed to love looking at the universe though her eyes, not minding her questions, or her lack of A-levels. He made her think and the proud look in his eyes when she figured something out made her walk on air for the rest of the day. Was trying to take this relationship further, worth risking what she had? She knew how he felt about Domestic.

She threw the covers back, deciding to get a cup of tea. While waiting for the water to boil, she felt a presence behind her. The Doctor lounged in the doorway, looking concerned.

“Couldn’t sleep?” he asked

“Couldn’t get back to sleep, thought a cup of tea might help.” Want one?

He sat down, taking the cup of tea from her. He took her hand and contemplated her over his cup. They sipped their tea in easy silence.

She stood up, setting her cup on the counter. She knew she should just go back to bed, leave things as they were, but her restless mind wouldn’t let it go. She hesitated in the doorway, stopped, turned around and took a decisive step toward - and slammed into the Doctor, who apparently had been right behind her.

Oof - His arms came up automatically to steady her , holding her close. As he opened his mouth to say something, she shook off her doubts, reached up, and kissed him - passionately. He froze for a second, and then slid his hands up from her shoulders to frame her face, tangling his tongue with hers. Kissing her, exploring her, arousing her more thoroughly than she’d ever been before. Pulling back, he brushed her cheeks tenderly with his thumbs, holding her gaze with his. That same dark, passionate gaze she seen earlier this evening.

Be very sure this is what you want Rose Tyler, he said in a low husky voice. I’m not Mickey or Adam, or any other of your pretty boys. If I take you as mine, I don’t think I can let go. If this is curiosity or just an itch to scratch, leave be, go to bed, and I’ll show you the universe tomorrow. If you’re smart you’ll go - I’m damaged Rose, and I know it. He closed his eyes leaning his forehead against hers. Then he released her, stepped back, and waited.

The air vibrated with tension between them, Rose took one step then another towards him. Taking his hand in hers, she answered him.

One heartbeat, then two and she felt him lift her and settle her bottom of the counter. The hem of her t-shirt slid up as he spread her knees and made space for his hips between her thighs. He slid his hands under her t-shirt and pushed it over her head.

He moaned feeling her nipples swell and rise at his touch. He circled his thumbs again and again over her nipples and outlined her parted lips with his tongue. She felt a sweet ache where he kissed and caressed, where his straining zipper rubbed between her spread thighs. She inched forward on the counter and moved with the friction. His hands in her hair, his mouth against her skin, his body hard and urgent against hers. She opened to the slipping, sliding, intimate touch of his cool fingers, and then his mouth between her thighs. He plunged his tongue deeply into her and kept it moving, over and over with teasing nips of his teeth keeping her on the edge of everything.

He replaced his tongue with his fingers, murmuring brokenly against her neck,
Rose, Rose, Rose, come for me, Rose. She felt special, beautiful, alive, all her senses heightened. She climaxed with a cry against his shoulder, and he soothed her, caressing her with long strokes as she calmed.

He met her gaze with the smile she loved to see, the one that lit up his face and sparkled in his eyes. “You are fantastic, Rose Tyler!” Swinging her up into his arms he strode though the TARDIS corridors to his bedroom.
