Pollux had always known that Castor would die before him; after all, while he was immortal his twin was only mortal, and weak, better suited to the humans he loved so much than to Olympus. But he had thought that he would be able to protect him well into old age, and if he could, find a way to make him immortal, or let him live well beyond his years. After all, when your father was Zeus, you grew up believing in miracles and impossible things that mortals would call sorcery, or the will of the gods. Which to be honest, they were. If there was a way to keep his brother from being sent to Hades and the Underworld then damn it, Pollux had known that he would find it. But what he hadn’t expected was for his brother to be shot down by a pair of his devious cousins because he’d been too stupid to take cover while saving Pollux’s life
