Eusine took one look outside and ran, literally ran, back to bed. His socked feet skidded on the polished wood floor and he fell onto the covers, flailed as he tried to scramble under them, and consequently elbowed Morty about fifty hundred times.
"What the- ow, seriously? Whath'hell," he mumbled, but Eusine was burrowing under his arms, shivering, and making pathetic anxious puppy sounds.
"It's snowing," Eusine finally squeaked.
"Yeah? It's been snowing all week." Fuck, he was awake now. Morty tried not to sigh, though as a consequence he ended up smiling - look, Eusine was cute and he was balls at this comforting thing.
"No, it's snowing. There are drifts and I tried to open the door and it fell on me." This was The End Of The World, clearly!
It was a funny thing, and Morty had remarked on it before, how much Eusine hated the cold when the pokemon love of his life, Suicune, was literally the embodiment of the North Wind. Eusine had babbled something about 'delicate constitution' and 'Suicune is technically a water type' but clearly, it was just one of those Things and Morty wanted to make fun of him forever, but he always looked so miserable.
He did sigh, then, but it slid into a low, warm chuckle. "Well, we've got a warm bed, plenty of food, and if one of us gets un-lazy enough," the look on his face clearly suggested that Eusine should be the one, since he was the early bird anyway, "we can have a nice fire going. We don't even have to go outside at all."
From under his blanket-cave and the crook of Morty's elbow, Eusine's eyes narrowed suspiciously at him. "...Promise?"
Morty moved his arm and snuggled in to kiss his lover's forehead. "Cross my heart."
About an hour later, Morty wandered out into the tea room, still in his pajamas. Eusine had indeed gotten up and made a fire - but he'd also broken into their store of extra blankets and made himself yet another blanket cave, this one right on the hearth rug. Morty ducked his head to hide a grin. Then, impulsive and lazy in that Sunday-morning way, even though it was only Tuesday - he wandered over and lay on him, floppy and annoying, and Eusine squeaked and fell over.
"Hey, let me in your blankets," Morty complained through a grin.
"Nooooo," Eusine whined. "My blankets. Get your own!"
"Noooooooo I looooooove you too much," and Morty finally found the edge and unwrapped until he could find Eusine's face.
"I do not- mppfh."
Morty chuckled into the kiss, then bumped their foreheads together. "You relax. I'll make some tea and breakfast."
"Eggs and sausage?" Eusine asked, looking up at him with doe eyes.
"Anything you want, baby." Unable to resist that face, he leaned over for one more little kiss. "You just stay warm."
