Worship

We heard in chapel on Wednesday that worship is our response to God's revelation of himself. David, in 1 Chronicles 16, named numerous ways that we can worship God -- ways that are acceptable to him:

"Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done...sing to the Lord...proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations..he is to be feared above all gods...ascribe to the Lord glory and strength...bring an offering and come before him; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness. Tremble before him, all the earth!...give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Cry out, 'Save us, O God our Savior...' "

I'm being reminded more and more that worship is not about me. Worship is more than music. Worship is what I was created for. To present myself as a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1-2) means giving all of myself to God in every moment. Learning more about worship is an exciting journey. I have more to say but can barely keep my eyes open right now.

I easily sing in response to God. I often give thanks. This week he is challenging me to ascribe to him what he's due, and to remember and declare what he has done and who he is. How is God revealing himself to you? And how are you responding?
