i just want to thank you.... some of you, anyway....

i just want to take a moment and thank my staff, many of whom are either LJ-participants or LJ-readers. it was quite a daunting task for me to assume the directorship of information services with only two years of staffing under my belt, but i knew that my staff, the core of which had worked with me in 2000 and 2001, would provide any support i needed. hodge was invaluable, an absolute rock. the man is a machine. deeanka, rachel, n'gai and krista, all of you did just what i expected, which is always more than any normal human being, and i could not be happier. i had only one of the two mcbrooms, but davis was always there, the anchor of the morning shift. hopefully, brenda will return next year.

and the new staffers were fantastic, drawn from my well of theatre friends, online acquaintances and LJ-volunteers. it was great to have theblairzip and snapper aboard, as this was a first d*con for either of them and they loved it. they found that fine line between wide-eyed amusement and absolute courtesy that is the badge of our office, as we try to give everyone equal attention and assistance. ariel proved to be the capable sprite to my over-worked prospero, always ready to run to and fro in quest of beverages and so on. kittenspeak and jolefay gave a healthy dose of spunky glamour (sounds like the name of a band) to our booth, something that seperated us from the simple distributors of data that we could so easily be. jack and mattsrants, you guys rock. though both of you were newbies, both of you worked incredibly hard and were always ready to help. thanks also to calico and eric.

it must be said that my fellow directors were incredible, or at least the ones with whom i worked directly. mr kerns (aka tk0667), mr cashman, mr campbell, mr gordon, mr henry (no, not that mr henry), mr harrison and on and on... you are all gentlemen and scholars.

and to all of you who came by the information booths, i thank you. never have i experienced a more courteous collection of costumed playmates, none of you raised your voice or gave us any unnecessary grief. this is a double testament, i think, to the efficient capabilities of my staff and to the kind of people drawn to the 'con. strange and bizarre, yes, but good people, none-the-less.

if i had to do it all over again, i would. and i will. just not anytime soon. how about next year?

after some rest...
