It has been a long time since my last blog entry and I have much to bring everyone up to date on. My 1st two weeks at CIGNA were hell... and I was afraid that I had taken the wrong co-op or worse yet selected the wrong major. On top of no one being around v-town I was really depressed over work. No one really spoke to me, and I had almost no responsibility. The other co-op's has different jobs than I did and seemed to be getting fairly involved. This was not the case on my end... However, I am happy to report that the proceeding two weeks have been nothing short of incredible. I have been given so much responsibility that I don't know what to do with it. I am the resident expert on CCL Captures and am consulted by many concerning test lab usage and testing methodology. People are coming by my desk constantly asking for things that I am more than happy to do for them. I think I have learned more about the world of IST and the concepts and technologies within it in the last two weeks than during my entire 1st year @ DREXEL.
One of my larger assignments involved working with a complicated server-side web technology known as ASP (active server pages). When I first heard this I doubted my ability to work with it effectively. Though I have not explored the entire scope of ASP I did construct a CIGNA Vendors WebSite Prototype using it ... and may be asked to give a presentation about the functionality of that said to the higher-ups in the CIGNA Systems Division. Work is not even a 10th of the burden that it was 3 weeks ago. I also have access to the CIGNA Systems University courses (SmartForce) that provide training in all sorts of marketable computer technologies... I started taking a course on javascript today... and you may see some advances javascript enabled pages showing up on Gr0und-Zer0.
Tonight I went out for some dinner (salad) w/ Emma who came back from NYU for a few days. It was fun and we had some good conversation which is hard to come by around here. Luckily she was unable to end my life with the use of her compact-micro death-mobile ... known to some as "pig" - I also ran into one of my old managers from the mansion while @ the Main Street Pub... she said they were looking for some extra Bartenders.. so I think I might head over this week and check that out--- I also forgot to mention that I acquired a new cell phone. A Motorola V60t to be exact. It is very nice... and I enjoy the voice activated calling feature much. So all you people can get back to calling me on my cell. As for the rest of my weekend... I'm not really sure what is in store... the EAGLES are playing the BUCKS on Sunday in philly... so I am pumped for that we need a victory.
Anyway... I would love to say more but I am supposed to meet wellen @ the palace in about 10-15 min and I do not want to disappoint... so everyone take it easy and I will be writing in here a little more often...... hopefully
