Pre-Vermont Co-Op Blah!

So what ever happened with Co-Op?
So yea... lemme bring you all up to speed on this one. I have been a little mentally crippled for the last few days as a result of the co-op selection process. Of the 11 interviews, I managed to land 6 job offers and 1 qualified alternate. Unfortunately, Crompton Corp. my number one choice, was the job for which i was a qualified alternate. For those of you who are not familiar with the Drexel co-op system, please allow me to explain what this means. Essentially, co-op employers rank as many of their interview students as they want. Whomever they rank #1 is offered a job that they can either accept or decline. Those persons ranked 2 or below are then specified as qualified alternates. These alternates are essentially "fall-backs" in case the company's #1 choice does not accept the job. Unfortunately, for me to RANK and wait on the Crompton job could potentially forfeit my other job offers. It is a complicated system to explain, but basically lets just say that though i could have waited and potentially got the Crompton jobs the risks involved in doing so were too great, to justify such a process. Moreover, several of my other job offers were VERY appealing.

ENOUGH WITH THE BULLSHIT... WHERE ARE YOU WORKING?

After strenuous and somewhat aggravating contemplation, I eventually accepted Innovative Software Solutions Inc.'s (ISSI) job offer. Aside from offering the most money, I came to the conclusion that it was in fact the biggest departure from my loathed fortune 500 experience at CIGNA. One of my friends, Erin, at Drexel has been working for ISSI since the fall of 2002 (co-op + PT during school). She REALLY likes it there, and says it is one of the most laid back work environments that one can ever hope to encounter. i even heard something about "beer Friday"? Though the decision was not easy, i am confident that i have made the right one. My manager/boss is a huge skier, and my fried Erin (who will still be working there in the fall) will ease my integration into this new work environment. ISSI is located in Cherry Hill, in the Executive Campus (near the DMV). They specialize in robust benefit management software mostly for Unions and other organizations that manage benefits across a broad spectrum. I will be updating you with more information regarding my co-op as it becomes available. :)

Aren't you in classes now?
Yes, I am back in the Drexel saddle taking on 18 mean looking credit hours. Because of the unavailability of several required courses, i am taking a semi-uncharacteristic course load this term. Aside from ISYS210 (database systems) and CS390D (C++ 4) most of my courses lack the technical orientation associated with IT majors. My other courses include PHIL311 (Computer Ethics), HNRS202 (Political Philosophy Seminar), PSY330 (Cognitive Psychology), and WRIT220 (Creative Non-Fiction Writing). Most of my professors seem pretty cool thus far. Although, I am reasonably certain that my 'computer ethics' teacher is MOBY.

... so yea that’s about all i have to write right now. BTW there may be some very uncharacteristic entries being made in the future (such as the one b4 this). My creative non-fiction writing class requires me to keep a journal that is supposed to help me brainstorm writing topics. So if you see something that is a bit non-standard... you'll know its a course related entry... ok I'm off!
