It's about 12:00 on Thursday, am hanging around the kitchen of the Lockheed Martin Delaware Valley Regional Recruiting Center, waiting for my interview with the IT Services department. They do these interviews in batch-jobs so to speak. There are about 10 of us (all male) hangin’ around this lobby area going through the recruiting process.
I've decided to pass the time by writing, since I neglected to bring any kinduv reading material with me this afternoon. In fact, this entry won't be posted till I return home, since I lack and internet connection at the moment...
As I mentioned, MOST interviews have been going GREAT. I feel like I am really getting the hang of the whole interview process, with 11 of these suckers, i've been traveling like a fiend, all over the Delaware Valley. Luckily I only had 2 classes that required finals during finals week. 1 down, and C++ to deal with tomorrow... I am a little concerned about C++, but I should be able to pass most of the content. Though I have an A in the class as of the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if my final grade drops that to a B. Regardless, ALL my grades this term have been remarkably high. Short of some major miscalculations on my part, I should be bringing home A's in 4 of my 5 classes (C++ being the only *wild-card*). Though my GPA is satisfactory at the moment 3.33, I look forward to the additional breathing room that will be afforded to me but my grades this term...
...speaking of terms, my summer term is looking pretty good. Many of the MAJOR (IST) classes that I needed to take were filled before I have the opportunity to enroll, so I have been forced to explore other areas of my education prematurely, so that I can cover major-specific requirements at a later time. I will be taking a total of 18 credits during the summer equating to 6 classes. These include: Database Management Systems, C++ 4, Creative Non-Fiction Writing, Computer Ethics, Political Philosophy (Honors) Seminar, and Cognitive Psychology. Hopefully, I will be able to produce the same outstanding grades that I did THIS term. The kicker to this whole thing, is that I managed to cram these 18 credits into a 3-day week. It will entail me hangin' in the city from 9am-9pm on Tuesday & Thursday, but it's more than worth the 4-day weekends. Wednesdays will really be 1/2 a day since I only need to go in for a 2hr lab in the morning. I can't wait, but first MY BREAK (if you can call it that)...
After my C++ test tomorrow i will have fulfilled all the academic requirements necessary to complete the SPRING 2003 Term. Normally this would mark the beginning of a much needed vacation. However, because of an interview with SAP America that was pushed to Monday the 16th, I'm considering THAT, the end of my scholarly commitments for SPRING 2003. This means an approximate 7-day vacation on account of the fact that though the term begins on Monday the 23rd, i will not have a class until Tuesday the 24th. How’s that for a "summer break" all you Semester-System people?
...INTERVIEWING...
Ok, so I think that went pretty good. Of all the companies i interviewed with, I expected Lockheed to come at me with a barrage of structured questions, but the actual interview was nothing of the sort. As basic as ... "tell us about yourself"... "any questions?" Pretty boring and basic to be honest with ya. Apparently i have to go back in shortly to interview with a development team, then there is just a final follow-up interview, then i am out of here - by 2:00pm i hope.
I think i am going to try to hit the shore sometime this weekend. I wanna hit the arcade, and maybe score some Mack & Manco's... the trouble will be finding folks to join my little excursion. Maybe I will just sit around and watch movies :(. Not that there is any shortage of good ones lying about my home. I just watched "Taxi Driver" the other night, and i have "Princess Mononoke" and "LA Confidential" ready to go when I have a free moment. I have seen "LA Confidential" before, but I don't remember much, if any, of the plot... but it has a pretty righteous cast.
Anyway... in the interest in not going on too long, WHICH i already have ... i think i will end this entry HERE.
