High: 100.7 Low 69.9 Rain 0 Another hot, rainless day.
Started the morning with the strawberries, watering, then covering with remay. We are starting to see some new growth at the crowns in the first set planted, even though all the leaves are dieing off. Passed through the P orchard, where the peas are just starting to germinate, but the nasturtium are not. Still don't see any pumpkins larger than a marble. Moved to the C4 garden and watered. C4 will require a lot of reseeding of most of the crops. This time I did not cover with remay.
I started digging up the surviving strawberries out of the 2 rows in the weeded over C4 area, and placed them in a tray with water. I found about 40-50, out of the 150 spots I checked. I stopped at 10:00 when it was too hot and my tray was filled. Its going to be quite an adventure to try to get the drip line out of there.
The tray of strawberries spent the day on the lanai in the shade.
During the afternoon, I seeded 2 trays while watching movies on TV.
1 tray asparagus in 18 peat pots, each pot got 3 seeds. These will grow in pots for a year.
1 tray eggplant in 32 peat strip pots, 3 varieties, 4 seeds per pot. These are for planting in January.
Headed out around 6:00. David uncovered the strawberries, and watered as I transplanted the strawberries from the C4 area. There are only 10 spots left in the 3rd row. I tugged up on all the crowns to make sure they were not underground. I came back to the lanai, watered the lanai and lawn plants, finishing just as it was getting dark.
