Not that I don't love any and all mention of ZQ in the media, but that list? MAJOR fail.
The *writer* - I wouldn't call him journalist, since he clearly does not care to research or verify anything - groups behavioral disorders (OCD- *Monk*) in the same order as the chronic mental illness defined as Antisocial Personality Disorder. *rollseyes*
And the only character on that list who actually fits that definition is "Dexter"! Sylar can feel empathy, he just chooses not to employ it/ignore it.
*Steps off soapbox* Sorry, bb, but that article should never have been published. *wince*
I agree with the songfire3. "It's just pop culture" is no excuse, a lot of products of pop culture misrepresent mental illness and they need to stop. It's not so much that they got the specific diagnosis wrong, it's about the stereotype that mental illness makes people violent and dangerous and that's practically never true.
The average Joe or Jane isn't going to know about that definition or care. That's true and it's a problem that needs to be corrected. If we throw up our hands and go "oh well, that's just how things are," then nothing will ever change.
We're not getting on your case for posting the link, it's cool to see any mention of Sylar! We just don't like the way the writers handled that.
Yeah, have to agree that a lot of them don't really fit the bill exactly but it's kind of interesting nonetheless. Sylar should be higher on the list. hehe
