life is funny like that . . .
job front: so i had an interview at staples on friday. i talked to the 2 assistant store managers. it took an hour and a half. i had to go back yesterday so that i could talk to the general manager. supposed to be at 2. well it seems that she went to lunch late. i could wait for an hour or come back. i went and hung out in hobby lobby for a while and then went back. talked to her. filled out some paperwork. took an hour. i did ask to be put on the schedule for next week, but the look on the one ASM was pitiful. so i go in tomorrow to train. bleh. i wanted some time to take care of things.
birthday: it was good. saleem cooked me breakfast: bacon, grits, and french toast. it was yummy. also he got me mini cupcakes! yay! we went to the zoo. that was nice. i like animals, but it was SOOOOO hot that most of them were just lazing around. i got some fun picks of the fuzzy guys. came home and was a couch potato with saleem for the rest of the day. it made me quite happy.
carpet: so a few weeks ago the water heater leaked all over the back yard along the house. saleem called the land lady and it got fixed. it seems that the water also went along the INSIDE of the house. he never checked to see if it did. so last sunday we realized that the floor in the closet of the back room was molding. we pulled everything out and now the back room is a mess. the carpet needs to be replaced. so i get a call at 8:30 from saleem telling me that the carpet guy will be here sometime between 9-11. i was still sleeping. :( so i got up and sat around waiting. he got here at (no joke i looked at the time) 10:58! i could have gotten two more hours of sleep!! AAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! bah! so apparently he can't just replace the carpet in the closet. the whole thing's got to come out. so now we've got to empty the room completely. might i add that this is the room where we have 4 bookshelves full of books. plus all of our LARP gear. and just a bunch of other crap. bah! they may come tomorrow. emphasis on the may. grrrr.
rent: seems the land lady has lost/shredded our rent check. saleem put a stop payment on the check and i've got to put a new one in the mail. luckily she's going to cover the stop check fee and i'm also going to take another 150 off for the damage to our stuff caused by the flooding.
all these are some of the reasons i wanted to wait till monday to start. i could have delt with all this crap and been ready to start fresh. bah.
