3. Such, such were the joys by George Orwell -- 8 (Thanks to Christin for recommending this. Such an enjoyable read)

5. Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer -- 9
6. On the Road by Jack Kerouac -- 6
7. Drown by Junot Diaz -- 8
8. Poorly Made in China by Paul Midler -- 7.5
9. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling for the umpteenth time -- 10 (of course)
10. Country Driving by Peter Hessler -- 8
11. Serve the People by Jen Lin-liu -- 7
12. Club Dead by Charlaine Harris -- 6.5
13. Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris -- 7
14. Out of Mao's Shadow by Phillip Pan -- 9 (Highly recommended for those interested to learn about modern China, its government and its people)
15. Sun Yat-Sen by Marie-Claire Bergere -- 8
16. Dead as a Doornail by Charlaine Harris - 6.5
17. Definitely Dead by Charlaine Harris -- 6.5

20. A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Connor -- haven't figured out how to rank this one yet

1. China Candid by Sang Ye -- had to return the book to my friend
2. The Party by Richard McGregor -- was completely absorbed in the brilliance of this book about the Communist Party of China until I lost it at the airport. Sigh.
3. 1776 by David McCullough -- still reading
4. Beloved by Toni Morrison -- still reading
