Ranking the Summer Shows of 2019
1. Queens of Mystery- This is Pushing Daisies meets Murder She Wrote and a LGBT twist. It’s basically as though someone made this just for me. Love it.
2. Black Lady Sketch Show- This is a hilarious and surprising show with lots of amazing performers of color.
3. BH 90210- This is not a great show but the moments that are great are really charming. It’s made by people who know the original but also has the original cast taking shots at themselves.
4. Grand Hotel- This is a paint by the numbers soap but it hits all the beats well.
5. The Boys- This was a very inventive if pessimistic look at a superhero show.
6. Florida Girls- This is a funny show. I was never sure if it was punching up or punching down though.
7. South Side- This is a pleasant comedy.
8. Four Weddings and a Funeral- This is pleasant enough. It hits a lot of the greatest hits of rom coms but doesn’t always stick the landing.
9. Righteous Gemstones- This is something different that I haven’t seen before.
10. Carnival Row- This had a lot of familiar fantasy things. I don’t think it lived up to the hype for me.
