My "Arrow" 6x22 and 6x23 Recaps
So, Diaz was coming to kill everyone. Anatoly sent some warnings. Only Curtis's boyfriend was shot and he is in the hospital. Diaz wonders who could've betrayed him. Anatoly blames a member of the Quadrant. This inspires Diaz to kill two more members of the Quadrant and take it over for himself.
Meanwhile, the rest of the team reunites. They try and fail to get Diaz. Lyla and Felicity infiltrate SCPD and learn that Diaz has a list of everyone who is working for him. They figure once they have that, they have him. Lyla also tells her that she and Diggle work because they are a team and Olicity needs to be the same way. Good luck with that.
The latest failure inspires Ollie to finally recruit outside help. He goes to Watson and asks her for help. She agrees on two conditions. The first is that he admits he is the Green Arrow which he does. All this could be avoided if Ollie had spoken to one of the other three superhero teams he knows. One of them will be called in later so I don't know why he didn't do it before. Glaring plot hole.
This next episode (6x23) may as well have been called the many handshakes of Oliver Queen. We open with Team Arrow and the FBI taking back the SCPD and arresting everyone. Ollie offers to Diggle for there to be more than one Green Arrow in the city. He also apologizes for what happened between them. That's handshake one. Ollie also offers that everyone has immunity from the FBI now that they are working this. I'm frankly shocked the FBI deal allowed them to help.
Anatoly turns himself in and gives up the latest bit of Diaz information. It's never explained what happened to Anatoly BTW. Wild Dog heads in with the FBI. It's a trap because Anatoly had been made. Rene calls his daughter and says what she means to him. He then helps pull a nervous FBI agent out of the building. The person without training saving the person with training? Fine, show. Whatever. Ollie meets with Rene to check in with him. He says he had a bad first impression of Rene but knows Rene is a good guy. That's handshake number two.
Diaz has been calling Quentin and threatening Laurel. Quentin agrees to a meet where the FBI will follow. Ollie goes to talk to him. He asks Quentin to trust him to save Laurel. They agree they have come a long way. Quentin mentions he got a pacemaker after saying goodbye to Sara in season 2. Then we have handshake number 3.
Everyone gets ready for the meet. Diaz does not bring Laurel to meet Quentin. Quentin lets him know that the FBI are waiting to pounce but he can take Quentin and get away if they find Laurel. Diaz agrees. They go away. Ollie realizes Quentin mentioned his pacemaker because Felicity could track it. She does. Ollie and Dinah apologize to each other. She admits how impressed she is that he founded this superhero team. They shake hands. Curtis doesn't get a handshake so I guess he just doesn't matter.
Diaz tries to threaten Quentin and Laurel. Laurel claims he is bluffing. He shoots Quentin. The first of two really bad calls on her part. The FBI and Team Arrow attacks. Dinah lets Laurel go so that they can save Quentin. A big fight ensues and everyone begins to get arrested. Diaz and Arrow fight. Laurel arrives and sends Diaz off a building. He gets away even though Ollie had him. I understand why she wanted to kill him but she went about it the absolute wrong way and now we have another season of Diaz. Ollie meets with Watson. He tells her that he managed to clone the flashdrive Diaz has and now they know everyone who is working for him.
Everyone gathers at the hospital. Quentin tells Rene that if he dies, he doesn't want Rene to call him Hoss at the funeral. Ollie has a moment with Quentin. He says Quentin inspired him to be a good father. It turns out that Laurel called Sara to come. I don't know how she got her number or why Sara's other friends didn't do it. Maybe because Quentin has been in the hospital about 8 million times in the series. We are losing our damsel in distress Quentin. Sara doesn't get to see him. Sara asks if Laurel is like her Laurel. Laurel says no. Watson comes and arrests Ollie. They learn that he turned himself into prison so that they would all get immunity. He claims there was no time to tell anyone which is bullshit because he has been handshaking his way through this whole episode and even Quentin picked up on it as he was dying. BTW he's dead. R.I.P. One of the OG's. Ollie says he's sorry to Sara as he's taken away. Sara looks sad about both things which is good of her. Felicity hugs Sara.
Felicity comes to break Ollie out. He says no or the deal will be off. Ollie talks to William while waiting for prison transport. He explains to him. So, Felicity brought William to break his dad out of jail? Great parenting.
Outside, the press interview Ollie. He admits to being the Green Arrow and asks his team out there in the world to take up the fight. Didn't he make a whole speech about how he didn't want his loved ones being hunted for the rest of their lives because of people knowing he is the Green Arrow? Also, is he allowed to encourage people to still be vigilantes given that's what he's going to jail for? Ugh. There's a montage of his friends listening to the press conference, people getting arrested, Diaz being completely fine somehow (HOW but also WHY) and Sara and Laurel crying over Quentin's body. Ollie gets locked up in prison, presumably with a lot of other people he helped arrest. Seems great. Great note to end on.
