My "Arrow" 6x18-6x21 Recaps

Sorry guys again. This will probably be my last year recapping Arrow since I don't have the time I used to anymore. I'll hit the main points.

The first episode (6x18) was basically a character study in Oliver Queen. Oliver gets dosed with Vertigo by a member of city council. He has evidence that could implicate Ricardo Diaz owns the police and the DA's office but he could've only gotten this information from the Green Arrow which is not great given that he is accused of being the Green Arrow. Again, I don't know why this is suddenly an issue now but we know that everyone on the council is likely on the take so who cares. He loses his temper with William, maybe as a side effect of the Vertigo.

Anyway, while dosed with Vertigo, he hallucinates Felicity leaving him. He discusses this with Quentin. He wonders why everyone in his life leaves him. He does have a streak of bad luck in that department. Quentin suggests that maybe his people were not okay with him changing. Let's put a pin in this because it will come back around later. His hallucinations continue when he's on his own. He hallucinates Adrian telling him to go it alone. Why does he listen to this guy when the whole lesson of last season was not to listen to him? Doesn't matter apparently. Adrian follows him through his other hallucinations. Oliver remembers Laurel wishing him well before he heading out to the Queen's Gambit to cheat on her with her own sister. He remembers her dying only this time she blames him. Rene also blames him for the attack on himself. He mentions Ollie never visited him which may indicate guilt. He hallucinates Raisa dying trying to protect him. He also hallucinates Diaz killing him. Ollie turns in the evidence and it gets him in trouble. He gets impeached. Hallucination Adrian convinces him to face Diaz and the entire corrupt 100 officers of the police department on his own. He does as the Green Arrow.

Felicity and Quentin talk and catch up on the whole Oliver is on drugs thing. William hears about it and gives Felicity running shoes. It's pretty cute. I'm glad someone on TV is concerned with sensible footwear. Instead of calling for literally any backup since that's where we are now, Felicity runs into the police station by herself. She convinces Ollie that she is real and they escape together. Oliver then tells her that this whole experience has convinced him that he needs to go it alone. Other than Quentin's real life advice, it seems like none of his Vertigo experiences have supported him being alone. He misses his people. I guess he thinks being around people gets them hurt? But that's not really supported in the text.

The next episode (6x19) is another story. This time it is all about Diaz. He was bullied as a child and it is something he will keep bringing up through the episode. He tries to join the Quadrant. He does some tests to get to meet them. In the end, the Quadrant member that was supposed to get him in, decides to kill him and take over his network. He doesn't succeed. Black Siren goes along with him. He explodes the man who betrayed them and others. They get in the Quadrant fortress, killing many people along with them. Black Siren is bothered by some of this but not all? The writers really need to make a decision here. Anyway, Diaz murders his way to a seat at the Quadrant table. Then he burns his former school bully alive. So, there's that.

Elsewhere, Felicity and Curtis get to work on Helix. Felicity updates Curtis on the state of things. She cannot handle not knowing how Ollie is doing and wondering whether he is alive or dead. He basically just tells her she can handle it. That's super helpful.

The following episode (6x20) has Rene returning home. He and the NTA are returning to work right away. Diggle even uses his A.R.G.U.S. resources to help. He even apologizes though he honestly didn't need to. It turns out that Rene is scared of going back into the field. Diggle tells him he will work his way back to it. Zoe also supports the idea of him going back into the field so that's nice. The NTA and A.R.G.U.S. team up to fight the Quadrant.

Quentin learns that Laurel is working with Diaz when they pressure Quentin into selling him a building. Quentin agrees because he doesn't want Laurel to die even after all she did. It was a test by Diaz. Also, Laurel decides to turn on Diaz because she didn't like him burning his high school bully alive. I'm sorry. That goes against everything we know about her. She was teamed up with Zoom for god sakes. But she's scared of this guy? No. It doesn't work but that's where we are.

Elsewhere in the episode, Ollie breaks in and asks Anatoly for help. Anatoly turns him in to Diaz. Diaz challenges Ollie to a fight. Whoever loses has to leave the city forever. Ollie is winning when Diaz cheats by stabbing him and has him arrested as the Green Arrow. Anatoly realizes this was all just a ploy from Ollie to get Anatoli to see what kind of man Diaz is. Anatoli can't trust Diaz but can trust Ollie.

This last episode (6x21) was Oliver's trial. The NTA doesn't want to testify against Ollie even after all that's happened. Dinah is forced to plead the fifth to avoid incriminating himself. Diaz brings Zoe in and threatens her so Rene is forced to implicate Ollie. Felicity testifies that Ollie is being framed. Diggle testifies that Ollie is not the Green Arrow. Diggle also recruits the Human Target to come in. He drops from the ceiling as Tommy Merlyn and testifies that he is the Green Arrow who faked his death after season 1. Roy took the fall for him and he doesn't want the same for his best friend. Diaz roughs Laurel up and threatens her to testify that Ollie is the Green Arrow. Laurel testifies that Tommy is the Green Arrow. Everyone worries that the judge and the jury are all working for Diaz and will find a guilty verdict no matter what. The jury finds Ollie guilty. Rene has the idea to replace the judge with the Human Target. He goes against the jury and says Ollie is free to go. Ollie and Rene apologize to each other for all the bad blood. At the end, Diaz kills the judge but I guess no one cares since he's corrupt? Great job, guys. Laurel decides to take on Diaz and kill him. He inhibits her powers and captures her. He vows to kill the Green Arrow and all his loved ones. Side Note: Raisa admitted she knew Ollie was the Green Arrow. Everyone knows. Ollie also told his lawyer Jean during this episode. There was also a reference to John Jr. being abducted but that never happened.
