Summary: Hiro has to see Ando with a power when he’s lost his own.

Hiro knew he was ungrateful. He was supposed to be the hero and then Ando was. He tried not to be jealous or entitled. He tried not to let Ando’s artificial powers bother him after the loss of his pure one.

He couldn’t help it. He had to see it. He saw the red arcs of electricity grow from Ando’s fingers like talons, the kind that could hurt him and might still. It was like a lover abandoning him for his best friend. And he could SEE it.

He longed for the time before, when Ando could only wonder what his power was and how it felt. Hiro kept him wondering. It couldn’t be described by traditional senses. Ando could never understand.

Being a master of time and space didn’t have a smell. There was the occasional smell of waffles if he ended up in a restaurant but no constant smell of sparks or ozone that people like Ando or Peter had.

He saw everything freeze. He saw the landscapes before him shift to something else. It was beautiful but it wasn’t from him, it wasn’t of him. It was different every time.

He couldn’t taste time or touch it. Even the silence was inconsistent with his teleporting ability.

The only constant thing he could feel was his birth right, his power, the thing that made him Hiro the hero.

Even that was gone now. Ando had the power now. And Hiro would covet it, support it, even build a batcave to it. He would see it.

Still, the truth was Hiro felt nothing at all.
