We open with Ollie and William working at the Star City Police Food Drive. It is at the new Star City Police Station. Felicity gets interviewed. She claims the Arrow isn't her type since The Flash is. Kind of a weird joke since she actually had a thing with him? She follows it up with a joke about the free press which is kind of tone deaf in our current times. Were the writers expecting no one to watch this episode? Quentin gets interviewed as well. Ollie talks about the families they've helped. Watson arrives and arrests Ollie. Ollie demands to see William. Ollie promises him that he did not break his promise. He asks him to stay strong and stay with Felicity. This episode is literally called Thanksgiving so there's that. How did we go six seasons before that happened?
At the Arrow Cave, Diggle gets a shot. The team wonders if they will get arrested. Diggle is more worried about all the criminals wreaking havoc since they think the Green Arrow is in jail. We'll find out later that very little research and preparation was done on this shot which seems pretty reckless given they have ALL the resources.
Black Siren and James break into a vault. They steal a box. Black Siren seems to have a death wish for herself and others this whole episode. I'll just leave that here.
In prison, Dinah visits Ollie. She offers to break him out. Ollie won't do that to his son. Dinah says goodnight. Ollie was just very publicly arrested. Is it smart to offer to break him out and discuss it in a public place filled with cops and FBI? Dinah's a solid friend even if her morality is rapidly disappearing.
At the Arrow Cave, Diggle and Curtis look into the robbery. James stole a nanothermite. Curtis calls Felicity for help figuring out the next move. She can't help him because it's Ollie's arraignment. So, I guess Curtis is more hardware and Felicity is more software. Diggle works out with some impressive upside down pushups. His tremor is gone. Team Arrow mobilizes.
At the Courthouse, Ollie, Felicity and Watson are there. Ollie is put on bail. Felicity uses her company money to bail him out. Is that legal of her to do? Also, how will Ollie go to Barry's wedding next week if he is on bail? Also, also, how is he still the mayor?
At the Mayor's office, Felicity couldn't hack the information the FBI has since they are keeping it offline. Well, they could certainly be creating more evidence now with all these public meetings they are having. Some of Team Arrow leaves. Ollie tells Quentin about Black Siren's case. Quentin doesn't want to know anymore.
At Amertek, James (via hacking) leads Black Siren and his team in. Team Arrow arrives. They begin to fight. GA Diggle goes into distress. He is severely beaten. He sends Team Arrow after the bad guys. BS Laurel escapes. The team returns to the Arrow Cave. Felicity finally learns of Diggle's condition. Did they consider it a closed matter since Diggle was getting help? How much time has passed since the last episode? Diggle is now in the hospital. It turns out he collapsed because of drug withdrawal and a reaction to the prototype Curtis gave him. Curtis has to leave when Felicity tells him that James is building a bomb that has 200 yard range. Felicity wants to tell Ollie what happened with Diggle. Diggle asks her not to. They wonder what event James is targeting with his bomb. Curtis arrives. Felicity lays him for using their company's prototype without asking her. Curtis says Felicity named their company, chose its direction and products without him. Felicity says she did that for him. They agree to put a pin in this until they have stopped James. I will say Curtis didn't seem bothered about any of this at all until he was confronted about his own actions. Wait until he hears about the money. Thea's still rich, right? Can't they use her money?
At the hospital, Ollie visits Diggle. He knows everything. Ollie accuses him of compromising Team Arrow. Diggle says he doesn't owe Ollie anything. He did this for Ollie. Diggle says his biggest mistake was putting Ollie before himself since they met. Ollie says his biggest mistake was asking Diggle to be the Arrow. Ollie goes to visit Thea. He says he misses her. He pleads with her to wake up. This is a holiday episode so I think you know where this is going. Also, Diggle's family at no point makes an appearance in this episode. I guess Lyla is out of town again?
At the Arrow Cave, they plan on having Big Belly Burger as their Thanksgiving meal. There's an implication this happens to them a lot. I hope Big Belly Burger has a rewards card. Ollie comes by and apologizes. They tell him that James will target the Billy Joel concert. Ollie offers to use his mayor powers to shut him down.
At the arena, the concert promoter refuses to cancel the concert without any evidence. Ollie could use his sway to meet Billy Joel but this never comes up because plot.
At the Mayor's office, Dinah tries to talk to Quentin about Black Siren. She tells him about her boyfriend being Vigilante. Quentin admits he let Black Siren go a few episodes ago. Now, he feels all her kills since then are on his hands. Dinah admits she did the same with her boyfriend. Dinah knows they are good people despite letting the bad guys go. Well, that makes one of you.
At the hospital, Ollie admits Diggle was right about some things. Ollie didn't consider his feelings. Diggle asks about William. William is grateful for Diggle stepping up as GA. Diggle's activities have left him with permanent damage and could casue paralysis. He admits that the Dominator's fantasy from last year made him realize he wanted to be the Arrow. This was his chance to live that fantasy.
That fantasy also included him not having a wife and child so maybe he should think about his dysfunctional dream life a little more. I suppose that's one way to address the crossover though. Ollie tells Diggle about the current situation.
At the Arrow Cave, Felicity suggests Dinah lead the team. The others aren't sure. Ollie shows up and offers to do so. Can he not be Spartan or someone else for this mission?
At the concert, Team Arrow shows up including Ollie as the Green Arrow. Wild Dog sets off a fire alarm. The police aren't letting people leave. Felicity says they aren't cops. She instructs them to just fight all the fake cops like they aren't being watched all the time. James appears to Green Arrow as a hologram. The bomb was a fake to get Green Arrow's attention. He wanted him to know that Green Arrow cost him his son. Costing people their children is really a running theme of this whole series. Is that the case with Watson as well? Black Siren is really there. She knocks out Green Arrow. Billy Joel is shown performing. I have no idea why.
At the Arrow Cave, they learn that James has a son named Owen Post who disappeared. They don't know why James blames Arrow. The Anti-Vigilante bill passed after video appeared of them assaulting all the fake cops. So, did Team Arrow address the public at all? Or did they just shoot up a Billy Joel concert and people dressed like police and bounce without a word? This is all a plan of James but still. Talk about getting in your own way.
At a press conference, Ollie says that he still supports vigilantes but he will uphold the law. Watson visits. She asks what William would think of Ollie's choices. She wants him to be held accountable. Is she also working for James? Also, I guess this vote happened on Black Friday?
In the hospital, Ollie, Felicity and William visit Diggle. Ollie lies to William. Ollie and Diggle are left alone. He wants Diggle to take over eventually but will fill in for awhile. As many people have pointed out, it's starting to seem like Ollie doesn't even like being the Arrow. Ollie is called to antoher room. Thea is awake. Diggle joins William, Ollie and Felicity in having Thanksgiving dinner in Thea's hospital room. She's awake because of a new wonder drug. She learns Raisa is taking care of William. I guess she was let go when Thea turned 18? I hope that doesn't happen now that everyone is awake and together again. Nonetheless, they are all happy and together. Happy Thanksgiving.
