My "Arrow" 6x01 Recap
We pick up on a boat five months later. Arrow, Spartan, Mr. Terrific and Wild Dog try to stop a missile from a guy named Faust. They succeed. Faust doesn't seem that bothered. No one notices this glaring red flag.
Back 5 months ago, Ollie tells everyone to take cover. Slade leaves everyone. The others go to hide on a plane. Samantha books it to look for William because Ollie didn't mention finding him, I guess. Thea goes after her to keep her promise to Ollie. Ollie returns to the island with William. He asks him to stay there while he looks for Samantha. William remembers that Chase called Ollie his father. He wants an explanation. Ollie avoids the question. Nyssa is mentioned alive off screen. It is my headcanon she was with Sara for the next few months. Ollie finds Thea unconscious. Samantha walks up. She confirms with Ollie that William is alive. She makes him promise to be William's parent. Then dies. Who cares. Dinah and Quentin go looking for survivors. Black Siren ambushes Dinah and holds a blade to her neck. She's about to kill her when Quentin shoots her. After everyone has evacuated the island, planes touch down. Someone goes inside and helps Black Siren. A lot of people complained there are no stakes to the cliffhanger because everyone we cared about is still alive. I'm actually happy about that. I didn't want to say goodbye to anyone except maybe the newbies. Don't complain about your favorite characters not dying if you will also complain about them dying.
At the Arrow Cave, Curtis, Rene, Diggle and Ollie talk about mayor stuff. Felicity brings in food for everyone. Mama Smoak has apparently just left after many months. Ollie asks Felicity to meet William. She's not ready. I guess they are back together?
At the apartment, Raisa from the pilot is there! I hope she stays. For those who don't remember she was the maid who was there for all of Oliver and Thea's childhood. She's apparently helping babysit William. William calls his dad Oliver. He mostly ignores Ollie but he is a tween boy. This is standard.
At the police station, Dinah interrogates Faust. She leaves to go get check on Quentin. I love Quentin but could that not wait or the case be handed off to another detective? A cop brings Faust something to drink. Faust uses it to set off an explosion. Black Siren comes in with a bunch of dudes and shoots up the police department.
At a bar, Quentin is contemplating drinking because he is struggling with guilt. Dinah meets him. Quentin can't talk to his sponsor because he would have to reveal things about what happened on the island. I recapped it up top so you already know he feels guilty about shooting someone who looks like his daughter. Also, on Legends of Tomorrow, it was revealed that Sara spent six months in Star City before heading back right about now. My head canon is she bummed around for awhile, hooked up with Nyssa and then came to town to hang out with her parents. She probably just left.
The next day, Quentin, Ollie, Rene and Dinah work the scene. They find a video of Black Siren. Does the police station have a black box that survived when the place blew?
At the Arrow Cave, they talk about how Black Siren isn't dead. Quentin and Dinah said they found her dead. Later, it's revealed that Dinah told him to lie which doesn't make sense because Quentin was literally the only one who cared. Ollie has to leave to drop William off at school.
At the apartment, William is rocking a Flash backpack. Nice continuity. Raisa tells Ollie that William hasn't been sleeping. He keeps having nightmares about the bad man who is responsible for his mother's death.
At the Mayor's office, Rene has Thea's old job. He's not as good at it obviously. Quentin tells Ollie that he and Dinah lied about finding Laurel dead but it was complicated. I think everyone has figured that out by now? Ollie gets a call about Black Siren's location.
On a street, BC Dinah faces off with Black Siren. Team Arrow shows up to help face off with Black Siren's team. Spartan tries to shoot but chokes. As a result, Wild Dog gets knocked off a building. Green Arrow catches him but they land on a car. It doesn't look good for Wild Dog which is fine. Get some rest.
At the Arrow Cave, Ollie, Diggle and Dinah meet with Felicity. Felicity sends Diggle and Dinah to go looking for clues. Felicity doesn't have a lot going on this episode which is probably why she was on food runs.
Diggle and Dinah confront each other about the secrets they are both hiding. They don't give anything up. Also, Diggle and Dinah keep looking like they are about to kiss and I do not approve. They find out Black Siren is targeting City Hall next. It's where the police graduation is. The SCPD is where it was supposed to be. Dinah says few people knew of the move. It's never explained how Black Siren found out.
At the apartment, Ollie is getting ready to head out when William wakes up calling for Raisa. Ollie goes to comfort him after his nightmare. William admits that Ollie is the bad man of his nightmares. It took Ollie five months to notice this?
At the Arrow Cave, they find out Black Siren is targeting the graduation. Quentin thinks that Black Siren is after him. He admits what he did. Dinah thanks him for saving her life. Quentin insists he be used as bait. Curtis and Felicity go into the field to run tech. Diggle agrees to stay behind. They find this weird but no one questions it. Again, it has been five months. Why is this just now happening?
At the police academy graduation, Team Arrow is there in plain clothes. Ollie gives a speech thanking the police for running into danger and keeping the city safe. Quentin says he can't help but feel like Black Siren is his daughter. People were mad Ollie didn't correct him but Ollie is the one person who probably feels the same way. Ollie tells him not to feel guilty. Ollie admits that William blames Ollie for Samantha's death. He thinks William should be with Samantha's parents. Quentin says that's not what Samantha wanted and Ollie needs to be William's father. Felicity walks in and says there's no sign of Black Siren. She asks Diggle what he sees from the Arrow Cave.
At that moment, Black Siren and her team attacks the Arrow Cave. Diggle runs. He starts taking out Black Siren's team one by one. He runs out of ammo. The Green Arrow shows up and starts fighting everyone. I'm sorry, did he teleport? Was Black Siren waiting patiently for Diggle to wake up? Mr. Terrific and BC Dinah show up. BC Dinah starts fighting Black Siren. Mr. Terrific tries deactivating bombs that Black Siren has planted. Black Siren sets off an explosion and escapes by herself. Quentin tries to stop her. She guilts him about shooting her and walks past him. She tells him that she would've pulled the trigger too. The mess gets cleaned up. They realize Black Siren tricked them. They suspect she stole something. They look for what.
At the hospital, Ollie visits Rene. He got him another hearing for his daughter since Chase messed up the last one. He tells Rene to pay him back by getting better which is what Thea said to Quentin when she got him into rehab. Speaking of, Ollie stops off in another room where Thea is in a coma. Slade shows up. He tells Ollie that he found his son and is going to meet him. He says that he and Ollie walk between two worlds and might have to choose. So, Thea is in a coma. I thought she would be dead so this is a pleasant surprise.
At the Arrow Cave, Dinah continues to confront Diggle about his PTSD. He has a flashback. It seems maybe he can't shoot because he was injured in the explosion but he doesn't say anything. Curtis interrupts them. He says Laurel took a t-sphere.
At the apartment, Ollie meets with William. He knows William hates him. He says that's okay because he is William's dad and will always be there for him. He also says Samantha wanted William with him. There is a baseball game on TV tomorrow night and William agrees to watch with him. Ollie goes into the other room and gets a call from Felicity. She tells him to turn on the news. There is a picture of him as the Green Arrow on the news. His identity is out. They have been kind of lazy about disguises. Will this get mentioned on the other shows in the Arrowverse?
