We pick up where we left off last week. Ray catches the arrow that is meant for Felicity. Well, that's some instant karma for his behavior in last week's episode.
At the Arrow Cave, Ollie and Diggle watch on TV as Quentin puts out an arrest warrant for the Arrow. It is shoot to kill. Damn. Ollie thinks he might share some blame for this. He and Diggle go to find Maseo who he hasn't really talked about. Imagine what the show would be like if he talked about his years away before they came up in the plot? Just have him mention Old Dave or something and have us meet that psycho in two years.
5 Years Ago, Ollie and Akio run into a woman who is actually Shado's identical twin sister. Does Slade know about this? Is she also dead now like so many women on this show? She agrees to hide Ollie and Akio in exchange for answers. So, in all the time Ollie spent with her family, a secret identical twin never came up? It's not like there was a lot to talk about while stranded on an island for two years.
At the police station, Quentin seems to know on some level that the Arrow isn't doing the shooting but by being a vigilante is inciting this trouble. He threatens Laurel for the Arrow's name. Side Note: Stephen Amell was live tweeting this episode and said even his baby daughter can recognize him in the hood. Get it together, Lance.
At Roy's place, Thea and Roy are enjoying the afterglow and back together one supposes. She wants to run away with him yet again, but he feels an obligation to stay with Ollie now. The only thing that changed since their original plan is Roy killed a guy. Gee, I wonder if that will come into play this episode? They see the stuff about the Arrow on the news.
At the hospital, Ray wakes up with a blood clot. He has technology that might cure him but the hospital won't allow it. Can't he transfer hospitals or sign an AMA? Who cares? Donna Smoak is here! She flirts with Ray and congratulates Felicity on having a boyfriend, even in the face of his possible death. Silver lining?
In an alley, Ollie meets with Nyssa. It turns out Laurel ratted her out. Ollie wants Nyssa's help stopping Ra's. Nyssa refuses to betray her father. Ollie says Sara would want her to help. Playing the shared girlfriend card is a bit of a risk.
At the Arrow Cave, Team Arrow minus Felicity heads out to face Maseo. Ollie allows Nyssa to opt out. I feel like Ollie and Nyssa would be friends without girlfriends and inheritances between them. Also, since there is a man hunt for the Arrow, wouldn't it be smart for Ollie not to dress as the Arrow when he is out fighting?
In an extended action sequence, we see quite a lot. The Team takes on Maseo and his men. Arrow is about to shoot Maseo who looks positively hurt about it. You tried to kill Felicity, Bro! Ra's makes it clear that at this point Ollie can either become Ra's or go to jail. Ra's is threatening Ollie with either being a Demon or wallowing in man pain. Not a smart threat given what we know about Ollie. Ra's and the League leave. The police chase Team Arrow through the streets. Arrow separates from the group as a diversion and escapes with Diggle. Quentin threatens to arrest BC Laurel but she is rescued by Nyssa and runs off with her. Roy is left alone.
At the Arrow Cave, Thea is there as everyone reunites. Roy shows up. He had to wound some officers but they were flesh wounds. Arrow calls Quentin and asks him to end this but Quentin says the only way to end this is to turn himself in. Ollie blames himself for what happened. Thea realizes she has been missing something. I can't believe they're still trying to keep secrets from this girl. She will find all the secrets!
5 years ago, Shado's sister, Mei, takes the guys to her place. Ollie honestly says that he doesn't know why the guys are after them. They were supposed to be let go after all. He lies about how he knows Shado and her dad. He flashbacks to Shado's death so he had a flashback within a flashback. Is that inception? Ollie goes to take a shower and Mei does a double take, not just because he is one of the hottest guys ever but because he has Shado's tattoo!
At the hospital, Felicity gets stressed out as Quentin does another press conference on TV about how dangerous the Arrow is. The more Quentin hypes up how bad he is, the worse it makes it look that he hasn't caught him, right? Think Quentin. Anyway, Donna comes in and says she couldn't get the doctor to agree to use Ray's nanotechnology so Felicity is just going to have to do it. Felicity isn't feeling the idea of accidentally killing her boyfriend but Donna tells her to take the risk. Donna always finds a way to make it work in the fandom.
Outside the police station, Quentin gets kidnapped by the League of Assassins and gets taken to what seems to be Nanda Parbat. No one noticed he was missing for that long? He was at work when he got taken for God sakes.
At Nanda Parbat, Quentin somehow instantly recognizes Ra's when he can't even tell who the Arrow is. He blames Ra's for Sara's death. Kind of true but as Ra's points out, she would've died years before had Nyssa not found her. He tells Quentin that Oliver Queen is the Arrow.
At the police station, Quentin lets Laurel know that he knows Ollie is the Arrow. He always suspected but didn't care while he was doing good. He says everything bad that happened to Sara started with Ollie. Again technically true but does he even know about Captain Jack yet? Might be a better place to put his rage. Quentin sends officers to arrest Ollie.
At the hospital, Donna fakes a pain and falls all over Ray's doctor to get him out of the room. Felicity injects Ray with the nanotechnology. He is happy about it. Then immediately has a seizure. Since the nanotechnology will minimize his blood clot somehow, will it give him the powers to shrink that he is famous for?
At Verdant, Thea and Roy sit together. Roy says he was almost relieved when the police were chasing him because he would finally go to jail for killing that cop. Thea assures him that it wasn't his fault. I feel like their relationship these days is just them taking turns having this talk. Ollie apologizes to Roy for making him the target of the police. All this talk of the police must have invoked them as they immediately run into Verdant to arrest Ollie. Yet, he somehow makes it outside?
5 years ago, Mei confronts Ollie about lying to her. Ollie responds with more lies. Mei tells Ollie that he can tell his lies to the police. She already called them. Ollie manages to get everyone to the floor before shots ring out. He explains that the people shooting are not the police. Mei is not the brightest bulb in her family.
In the present, Felicity learns that Ray's blood clot is gone. The Doctor totally suspects her. However, that moment is overshadowed by Quentin announcing to the whole city that Oliver Queen is the Arrow. Anytime the news is on, Donna seems to be watching but more on that later.
At Diggle's place, Team Arrow gathers. Ollie doesn't know how to convince people that he isn't the Arrow this time. Thea's assets have been frozen and guards have been posted at every bus station, train station and airport. Ollie decides to face the music. No one tries to stop him at this point which seems weird given what they pull later.
5 years ago, Ollie sends Akio and Mei into her bedroom while he fights the intruders. Maseo and Tatsu show up and help him finish off everyone. Akio reunites with his parents. Mei comes in and apparently, Ollie never told them about his dead ex. Then again, maybe he just didn't have a picture.
At the hospital, Felicity checks on Ray. He tells he that he loves her. Felicity makes a hasty exit. Donna accuses her of having hospital sex and is weirdly happy about it? That Donna is ever supportive. Felicity wonders why she doesn't love a guy who knows everything about Doctor Who which might be my favorite thing about Ray besides that he's played by Brandon Routh. Donna knows that Felicity doesn't love him because she does love Ollie. Felicity makes a case that Ollie isn't available. Donna seems to have no idea what was going on but she knew enough about the news to know that Ray got shot? Either way, she says two guys being in love with her isn't a bad situation but she has to make a choice.
At the police station, the cops try to use that creepy photo of Ollie that they always use for pictures but Quentin vetoes it. Haha. Ollie turns himself in and finds every gun in the precinct turned on him. Laurel brings Team Arrow in to visit him. He's turning himself in so that the others can have immunity from prosecution and so everyone else stops dying. He asks everyone to trust him.
5 years ago, Maseo helpfully got rid of all the bodies though Mei's place is still a hot mess. Ollie takes the time to tell Mei that her family saved him many times. He loved Shado. Her father and her sister are dead now. Mei finds peace in finally having answers. Ollie leaves. I feel like he could've helped clean a little more. She's going to have to move clearly.
At the Arrow Cave, Diggle suggests they move before the lair is found. Good idea, Diggle! Gold star. Roy wants to come up with a plan to rescue Ollie.
Quentin is taking Ollie away. When it is the two of them talking, Quentin punches Ollie. He says that he's not a hero but a villain who brings trouble. He says Ollie turned the people he cared about into liars, criminals and victims. The armored car gets stopped. Roy arrives dressed as the Arrow and turns himself in as the true criminal. I know he wants to make up for the cop he killed but I feel like Thea is going to get pissed. This also doesn't solve the Ra's problems. Lastly, wasn't he saved by the Arrow on TV? They don't even have the same body type. Way to take one for the team though, you beautiful idiot.
