My "Arrow" 2x19 Recap
At Queen Consolidated, Ollie, Felicity, Sara and Diggle break in and blow the applied science building on a plan by Felicity. They get all the security guards away before they do so. Felicity name drops the Clock King and the Flash. I have to say it's a nice departure to have our team be the criminals of the week.
At the lair, Felicity wants credit for knowing Isabel was evil. You would have gotten bonus points for reuniting River and Simon but it's too late now. Ollie says they created a setback but they don't know what Slade will do.
Laurel does a whole wall of weird in her livingroom connecting Ollie to the Arrow. Well, that's great, Laurel. It's not like people don't break into your livingroom every other week who would love that info.
At Iron Heights Prison, Laurel wants to know if Quentin knows who the Arrow and his lady friend is. Quentin says no a bunch of times. Sara shows up and feels awkward while Laurel struggles to get her Drunk Laurel brains back.
Ned tells Ollie and Momma Moira they need Thea's signature to keep Isabel from robbing them blind. The problem is, Thea is not talking to either of them. Momma Moira finally drops the bomb that Isabel was indeed Robert's mistress. Poor Ollie is left to think about how he banged his dad's girlfriend as if he didn't already have enough issues.
Back on the island, Ollie and Sara are content to let Anatoli torture Ivo to death. Ivo says he can change Slade back. Clearly this is a trustworthy and stable man they can make a deal with.
At the lair, no one knows where Roy and Thea are. That's the least of their problems as the group enters and Slade proceeds to beat up everyone except Felicity (which would be unforgivable, of course). Ollie manages to save Felicity by jumping off the stairs with her and it's cool.
At the hospital, Laurel finds out that Sara has a fractured wrist and has the previous injuries of a war vet. Ollie and Sara thank Laurel for the hospital visit and have a well coordinated lie. Laurel is beginning to catch on though. She should given she looked her own sister right in the face in costume.
At Verdant, Ollie asks Thea to sign the paper but she won't. She thinks of how messed up it is that she is the daughter of two mass murderers, one of whom tried to kill the brother she tried to make out with. Well, it does sound bad laid out like that. She resigns herself to being screwed up.
In the lair, Ollie learns that Slade took the skeleton key while beating them up which means he's off to a new facility. At least he let them all live... for future torture?
At S.T.A.R. Labs we meet Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow from the upcoming Flash spinoff. They prove their worth by being the first people to remotely slow down Slade by using a warehouse weapon against him. Arrow and Sara arrive too late and Laurel spies this whole thing. I guess she followed them? Diggle and Felicity check on the survivors where Felicity learns the coma guy she's been pining for has another lady in his life. Brutal. Side Note: In the comics, Caitlin still works for S.T.A.R. Labs but is villain Killer Frost who can steal heat and generate ice. On the other hand, Cisco Ramon is superhero Vibe who can create shock waves and has run ins with Ivo.
Felicity reveals that Slade is going to transfer his blood into a bunch of prisoners at once with a new invention. It will weaken him enough for Ollie to try and fight him. Side stepping the obvious flaw that by letting this go ahead, there's tons more to fight, this invention has already been invented. It's what the Master used in “The Wish” on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
On the island, Ivo finally wises up. He offers a cure to the serum in exchange for a quick death. I find it hard to believe he developed a cure for Mirakuru when he couldn't even make Mirakuru. It's on the freighter and he gives them a key. Sara prepares to kill him.
At Queen Consolidated, Isabel reveals that she and Robert were going to run away together but he stayed for the kids even though he knew Thea wasn't his. Isabel thought this was fitting revenge. Girl, you are doing too much. You got a billionaire to sleep with you easily. I feel you overreacted. Ollie calls Thea to tell her the news about Robert.
At Iron Heights Prison, the guards are nice to Quentin but the prisoners are not. Quentin gets a pretty severe beating that the guards are barely able to stop. Not the face!
Laurel is all set to tell Arrow she knows his true identity but is stopped when she hears about her dad.
At Iron Heights Prison, Laurel tells her dad she knows who Arrow is. The thing is, he consciously does not want to know. He feels bad for what that guy goes through and is willing to do time to keep his secret. Laurel decides to respect that. She threatens her boss with legal action in exchange for getting her dad out. Why didn't you do that to begin with? Also, quit threatening your boss, idiot.
At Verdant, Ollie goes to talk to Thea when Felicity calls. Ollie reluctantly takes the call and learns Slade has picked now to dispense his serum. Felicity tells him not to go as she does not want to see him lose everything. His money specifically. I guess the girl likes her electricity bill getting paid. Ollie knows he has to go and Thea has already ditched him at this point.
Arrow goes to where the dozens of prisoners are being transfused but of course it's Roy hooked up to the machines. Apparently, he did not put up a fight which is so sad (and possibly treacherous). Arrow turns off the machines. He shoots some exploding arrows at Slade. Diggle kills Isabel. Arrow rescues Roy before Slade can get back on his feet. Roy is pretty when he sleeps in case you were wondering.
At the lair, they all just try and wait and see if Roy will get better. Ollie hands over Mirakuru for a cure serum. He admits he had the chance to cure Slade but tried to kill him instead so this is all his fault. I saw someone wondering why Ollie didn't try to synthesize Roy's blood before to get a cure to prevent him from hurting Thea. Great question! Do we think Ollie just wanted a weapon until Slade was gone or he didn't want to give Roy false hope?
On the island, Ollie takes the gun and kills Ivo for Sara since he already has blood on his hands. He asks if the others want to drive a submarine. I don't suppose he meant that as flirting?
At Ollie's place, Thea moves her stuff out but there's surprisingly little of it. I guess she was more moved in with Roy than we thought? Ollie finally gets his news out to Thea and Momma Moira that Robert loved Thea even though he knew the truth. Since he's not here now, that does little to warm her heart. She leaves. Come back Speedy!
At S.T.A.R. Labs, Felicity hands over the Mirakuru to Cisco and Caitlin so they can make a cure. Well, one of them is a hero if something goes wrong.
At Verdant, Ollie looks at the most badly photoshopped picture in recent history. He then gets a hug from Laurel who I guess is slowly learning other people have problems. Progress.
Slade has his go on the machine and used it to save Isabel who will now be even crazier. Boy is that saying something.
