My "Arrow" 2x06 Recap
At Queen Consolidated, Isabel is yelling at Ollie for missing a bunch of company meetings. Ollie makes the argument that revenue has doubled anyway. As far as excuses go, that's a good one. Felicity pulls him away at an unfortunate time to answer an arrow from Roy.
We then go to where some counterfeit money plates are being distributed. Arrow tells Roy to go home but he doesn't and instead ends up beating up the one straggler of Arrow's fight until Roy gets himself arrested. Roy hilariously tries to make a citizens arrest while being arrested himself. Meanwhile, Arrow beats up everyone else while Diggle gives him tips at a distance until Diggle gets knocked the hell out.
A.R.G.U.S. takes Diggle to an abandoned building. Amanda Waller shows up to recruit Diggle to rescue Diggle's buddy Lyla from Deadshot in Russia. Diggle realizes that Lyla was looking for Deadshot for him. Deadshot is always getting new and inventive ways into Diggle's storyline. Waller freely admits she knows all about Ollie being Arrow and Diggle being his sidekick, though the way she phrases it makes them sound like lovers in the night time. Side Note: In the comics, Amanda Waller is also known as The Wall, The White Queen, The Black King and Mockingbird. She has ties to Task Force X, Checkmate and the Suicide Squad. She's generally known as a villain.
At the police station Quentin apparently thought Roy was just playing with arrows at the crime scene because Roy has to come out and say, “don't we work for the same guy?” before Quentin allows him to go home with Thea no questions asked. Bro code meet the Arrow code.
At the lair, Ollie and Felicity are watching news coverage of the S.T.A.R. Labs particle accelerator for a possible next case? (Props to the show for slowly introducing this in throughout the season). Diggle comes in and gives the details of his meeting with Waller. Felicity is such the personal assistant at this point that she feels the need to remind Ollie who Lyla is. Ollie and Felicity are in without being asked.
Back on the pirate ship, Sara reveals some of her old self when Ivo steps in front of her. She shakes her head at Ollie to lie. So, he says his name is Tommy. (R.I.P. Tommy 4eva). He does not lie about other details besides not knowing Sara. He's pretty pissed about the possibility of Slade and Shado being dead though. Ivo wants details about the Japanese bodies he found because they had an serum that could make people stronger with rapid cell regeneration. Does Brother Blood have this super soldier serum?
Ollie, Felicity, and Diggle fly to Russia. Since they're covering it as a business trip, Isabel also tags along and structures the whole thing. She also implies that Ollie and Felicity are boning. Ollie takes this as a cue to disappear with Diggle while sending Felicity off with Isabel. So, his plan is to appear gay? Waller might be onto something.
Momma Moira's lawyer (Jean Loring) stops by Verdant to instruct Thea to drop Roy the criminal. But Lady Lawyer, how else will Thea connect to the plot? Side Note: I humbly apologize for never bothering to learn Lady Lawyer's name before. In the comics, Jean Loring was wife of the Atom. She eventually committed some villainous acts before being a host for Eclipso.
At another bar in Russia, Ollie and Diggle meet Ollie's old friend from the pirate ship, Anatoli Knyazev. After some forced alcohol toast (don't always say no to peer pressure, Diggle), they find out Lyla is in prison and she broke in intentionally. She did not have an exit strategy. Much like “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” this week but less happy. Diggle decides to go to prison since Ollie has too much to lose. Side Note: Anatoli Knyazev is the KGBeast in the comics. He's a KGB villain in the comics whose main enemy was Batman. He mastered every deadly weapon in the world.
In a hotel room, Diggle has a whole bag full of drugs to get arrested with. Felicity and Ollie tell him to be an the rendezvous point or he will be stuck forever. It is at this point that Diggle admits Lyla was his wife. Honestly, I did not get that vibe at all. They were married briefly because after the war they could not make it work. Felicity sweetly kisses Diggle goodbye on the cheek and then he goes off and gets arrested.
At the Russian prison, Diggle gets manhandled and thrown in a cell with a political protester. There's a comment about not getting a lot of black dudes in prisons around here, just in case Diggle thought things couldn't get any worse.
At a standoff, there is a lot of Russian being thrown around. Ollie scary whispers some and then gets keys. Sorry, it doesn't really translate (pun intended).
Back on the pirate ship, Ollie chats it up with somehow still relevant to the plot Anatoli. Sara interrupts and explains her situation including that she is helping Ivo against her will. If anyone found out she knew Ollie it would be of the bad. Ollie admits that his friends are probably still alive.
Speaking of Slade and Shado, Slade is burned up and Shado is putting what I hope is not literal crap on his wounds. He wants her to save herself but she refuses to leave him. When he starts going into shock or something, Shado cuddles up to him to warm him up. I smell a betrayal coming on.
Back in the present, Thea realizes there is no time like the present and dumps Roy at Verdant. He accurately guesses this has to do with Lady Lawyer but is hurt nonetheless.
At dinner in the prison, Diggle identifies the guard who is going to help him. He does not prove much help when the thugs in the prison decide to beat up Diggle. Diggle holds his own but still gets in prison trouble.
At the hotel, Isabel lectures Ollie on missing another meeting. To be fair, it was one she scheduled mere hours before. They both speak Russian and get shots though Ollie weirdly does not drink his.
At the prison, Diggle's punishment is apparently to be locked in a freezer for seven hours. Deadshot is there to keep him company. Deadshot, more helpful because there is not a lot to talk about in freezers, admits Lyla found him in there.
Elsewhere, Isabel and Ollie are having a boring by comparison bonding session. She tells him that everyone in the whole company thinks he is boning Felicity. Isabel wants to save Queen Consolidated because she gave everything to be a business genius so her businesses have to run smoothly to make her happy. She grew up in Moscow and spent years trying to lose her accent. She also can tell that Ollie is intelligent, driven and lonely like she herself is. Ollie could get it right now and he knows it. They bang and Isabel makes her exit right in front of Felicity.
Elsewhere, the guard gets Diggle out. Diggle is in such a rush he does not even bother to ice Deadshot before he goes. That turns out to be a mistake as Deadshot breaks free and kills the guard. He wants to leave with Lyla and Diggle. I guess freezers are a good place to think of negotiation strategies. They are forced to team up and fight their way out while Ollie, Felicity and Anatoli make their way in.
Back on the pirate ship, Sara shows up to rescue Ollie. He promises Anatoli that he will be back for him. Sara sets up the radio to call Ollie's friends. Ollie is a little apprehensive but does it anyway. After he makes contact, Sara disables the radio. Ivo and The Haitian come in and reveal they are going after his friends.
At the prison in the present, Ollie and company (resisting Oliver & Company was hard, I won't lie) set off an explosion. Diggle finds Lyla and they escape with Deadshot. Ollie helps fight some bad guys. Once their a ways away, Diggle lets Deadshot go. Deadshot with some gratitude probably, reveals he killed Diggle's brother, Andy, because H.I.V.E. wanted Andy dead. Side Note: H.I.V.E. Is the Hierarchy of International Vengeance and Extermination or Holistic Integration for Viral Equality. They've been known to want world domination and elimination of enemies.
They all make it back from Moscow. I don't how it was explained to Isabel what Lyla was doing there or why everyone was beat up. Isabel doesn't want to talk about her night with Ollie but is decidedly more flirty.
At the US prison (tons of prisons this episode), Momma Moira made Roy visit her. She tells Thea that Lady Lawyer was wrong. Thea has been through a hard time so she can hookup with Roy whenever. Sweet?
The next morning, Lyla is bed with Diggle. He mentions he broke up with Carly because he could not love her and hate Deadshot. Yes, bringing up your sister-in-law/ ex seems to be a normal thing to do with your ex-wife. Things seem good until Lyla leaves the room randomly and Diggle looks up H.I.V.E. on Bing. Really? You're gonna Bing it?
Since finding out about Ollie/Isabel, Felicity has spent the rest of the episode asking WTF? Ollie says given his life is crazy he would rather only hookup with women he can't stand. Felicity has feelings about this as you would imagine.
Back on the pirate ship, The Haitian is about to kill Ollie when Sara stops him. The Haitian does not like taking orders from her. Ivo seems amused by the whole thing and reveals he knows that Ollie is Oliver. Whoops.
In part 2 of “Blood Rush,” Felicity gets a call from Quentin. He says Arrow's supposedly destroyed blood sample is still out there. Felicity poses as Arrow on the phone to send Roy to get rid of it. She tells Roy she'll lead him through it. So that means both Diggle and Felicity posed as Arrow now? Can't wait for Quentin's turn!
