Also wonderful to see your other post showing big brother is handling things well. I'm worried about "big brother to be" in my household. He'll be a month shy of his second birthday when Little Two comes along.

"I'm really glad we made it to the hospital at 8:01am, and not, say, 8:23am."

yikes, that really is cutting it close! I'm a bit worried here, being 45 minutes' drive from the Pembroke hospital where I'm to deliver, and this is my second too.

Also, the pushing stage for ds1 was short, we arrived at the hospital around 9am (I was 9cm at 8h30am) and he was born at 10am. Most of that was backl-labour. He went from crowning to popping out, once I found the right position. it was funny actually. I was on the birthing stool, supported from behind by dh, when I felt my left leg cramp up and abruptly stood up to straighten my legs. I felt a wet tumbling and thank god there happened to be two bewildered midwives still crouching at my feet and they caught him! lol! all in all, a comical day... this hospital was back in downtown Toronto. Both the prenatal class and hospital tour neglected to mention that wheelchairs in Emerg. are chained up grocery-cart style and require a loonie! or that the button to open the emergency entrance automatic door is hidden behind a concrete pillar, so I watched helplessly from the car (9cm and vigourous contractions) as my stymied dh gave up on the automatic door and entered through the large slow revolving doors and eventually returned through the same slow revolving doors with the wheelchair.

I wish I had something helpful to say (other than it's wise to wander in to the hospital once the same way you will ahead of time, but it sounds like you and your husband have figured that out...).

It's supposed to be a bit of a crapshoot how a 2-3 year old accepts a little sibling. Are you talking to your boy about his upcoming brother or sister? We talked a lot about it, and we still do as Monte gets older. Nick can play nicely with Monte, though he's sometimes rough.

So in your hospital, you go to emergency when you're in labour? Interesting! At ours (Massachusetts General) you just go directly to the obstetric birthing unit, without a stop anywhere else. You're already considered registered, since this is a "follow-up" to your first obstetric appointment oh so many months ago.
