"Plumpy"?
We saw Love, Actually yesterday (a concession to Keith’s June, who was such a little trooper about the dinner. I didn’t mind too much, though I expected it to be better than it was, what w/ the stellar cast they assembled.) Anyway, I realize that I could nitpick a million things about the movie, but here’s my one and only - the Natalie character who hooks up w/ the Prime Minister is presented as so overweight that 1) her boyfriend broke up with her over her fat thighs, 2) when the Prime Minister asks about her, his assistant’s response is “You mean the chubby girl? Thighs like tree trunks?” 3) Her father calls her “Plumpy.” And she is SO not! It’s insane to even try and pretend. (Though I do realize this is also a world where Hugh Grant apparently can’t get a girl.)
Maybe someone can find a photo of her so other people can judge for themselves. I looked but had no luck - then again, I still get confused sometimes by this magic box on my desk.
