I Just Missed a Job
At a good school. A very, very, very good school. One of the few schools I would just about die for a chance to work at. Every time I'm there I make a point of doing something above and beyond right in front of the principal.
I was there again yesterday. And today it paid off. There is an emergency opening - starting Tuesday. She called me.
Me.
And I, of course, had left my phone turned off in the staff room at the school I was working at. And to make things worse, I didn't bother to take it out of my bag before I went on down to the Wal-Mart to buy some material to fix my pants. Which means I didn't get the message until 4:30 - and she had already left the building.
I am a fuck up. I hate myself.
And my pants.
World? Why do you hate me so?
(And yes, I did just spend the last hour updating my résumé and cover letter, and composing an apologetic and hopefully not too desperate sounding email and forwarding everything to her just in case.)
