Ten important memories/facts about Kang

1. Between twenty (baaz) and one to two (aurak) draconians were created from a single dragon egg, depending on type, and probably 500 or more eggs were warped in a batch. The hatchlings were then put in a massive chamber, and forced to fight and kill to eat; the priests never gave them enough food. So, uh, he's killed a good number of his brothers. Those that survived the hatcheries, there's no way to tell who's related and who isn't. The majority of first generation males, Kang included, call each other friend, but never brother, because they don't want to remember the hatcheries.

2. Kang first met Slith when he was on his way to take command of a company of draconians. Slith was the leader of the group at the time, and there wasn't a lot of discipline. Pretending to be a deserter, Kang offered to help them retrieve treasure from a dwarven stronghold by building a bridge across the water infested with fang fish. They faced off against undead guards, and ended up with several kegs of dwarven spirits (very strong alcohol) to sell in the camp. Slith offered Kang a spot in the company, saying the humans couldn't tell them apart anyways, which he declined. He showed up the next day to take command, flooring Slith, and told him that he was going to make them the best damn engineers in the entire army. The two of them have been working together ever since, and are best friends.

Important quote (Slith and Kang) - "I told you he was an idiot. They're all idiots."

"You keep telling them that long enough, and they'll believe it."

3. The twenty-five years they spent in the valley after the war, Kang felt a little bitter, because they were pretty much just... waiting to die. They had no hope. They'd raid the dwarves, and be raided back, and it was fun, but it didn't change the fact that they had no females, and didn't even know how long their life spans would be.

4. The females were only five months old, still hatchlings, and the regiment was on the move to Teyr, being harrassed by goblins. It was the middle of winter, so they took shelter in an abandoned temple of Paladine. Well, they thought it was. There were a few clerics still there, starved, and Kang let them know that they were not prisoners and were free to go at any time, but it wasn't... recommended with goblins outside. He also asked them if they could help with the hatchlings, as they were listless and not eating. The eldest refused, but later that night, one of the other clerics, Marsel, snuck out to talk to Kang, telling him that she thought the problem was that the males were coddling them too much. The next day, the eldest tried to kill the baby females, and Kang offered his life in their stead. Draconians had killed her family during the war and she was consumed by hate. Marsel stopped her, however, and let them leave.

Important quote 1 (Kang) - "After the war, I came to realize that it was the hate that was killing us. Hate kills everything. The only way we had a chance to survive was to stop hating and start living. That's why I think the babies were given into our care."

Important quote 2 (Marsel) - "The world finds us, Commander. We can't hide from it, not even in the cellar of a temple. We have to know how to face it."

5. At the end of the big battle with the goblins that had been hired by the Dark Knights to kill the entire race, when Slith was helping Kang back into the fort, every other draconian was cheering for him. They singled him out because of his actions (killing Maranta, who also would have destroyed the race, and building a giant explosive), and he was offered the position of general, which he declined in favor of military retirement and a political position.

Important quote - "I made a decision to retire from the military some time ago," Kang continued. "I'm not sure how to explain this, but it came to me that our people no longer need a military leader. We need someone who will help us take our rightful place among the other races in the world."

He felt embarrassed, spread his hands. "I know I'm not qualified for this position and I'm probably going to make a hash of it, but I'd like to give it a shot. I want to be a leader of people, now, not soldiers. The First Dragonarmy Engineers are going to be moving out tomorrow morning. We're going on to the city of Teyr. We're going to build a new life there, raise our young in peace."

6. Before the big goblin battle, when the females were full-grown, but had not received any kind of self-defense training for fear of them hurting and/or killing themselves, Huzzad (the first human he ever considered a friend) berated Kang for it, telling him he needed to start treating them like adults. She also brought up that Fonrar was in love with him, and that was when he first started realizing his own feelings for her.

7. The first celebration of the Day of Hope, the third anniversary of when the female eggs were found and hatched, was also the first time the females declared who they had chosen as mates. It's done in a large gathering, and basically, every female makes it known who she's chosen by raising their joined hands and declaring it in one simple sentence. Very, very simple, but very memorable, especially since that was when he and Fonrar became mates.

8. Here's a good look into Kang's mind in this little tag.

9. Kang was once a spellcaster, but he no longer practices; he'd tied his ability in so much with his faith, and that faith was broken.

10. He is lawful neutral. No, really. It's on his D&D character sheet. He doesn't really favor one faction over the other, in regards to the Cybertronians. He might be okay with one member of a faction, but not with another; he knows better than to judge a group by the actions of a few.

While he gets along well enough with every other Autobot he's met, he didn't like movie!Optimus all that much. He reminded Kang way too much of a paladin, and he hates paladins.

As for the Decepticons, it's gotten a bit more complicated. With Malus, his original dislike was because of his utter lack of caring about collateral damage (i.e. the people in the Nexus that aren't a part of the war). Now, because of what's happened with Mikaela, it's a hell of a lot closer to hate. He also really doesn't like anyone that assisted Malus.

IDW!Megatron, he wasn't quite sure about for a while, but now it's extreme dislike (again, because of the Mikaela thing). Glit, he just finds annoying.

He very strongly believes that nothing is black and white, which is why he wanted to hear both sides of the story from the Cybertronians.

Here's a good thread with movie!Optimus.
