I've never lived in the dulaney valley crescent, but having been a student at both goucher and mica I can assure you the area around goucher is much safer. mica is right at the heart of the city, but goucher is in towson, which is pretty much a rich outskirt of the city - it's a lot more suburban than they'd lead you to think. and though you're not technically on campus, I believe you're right across dulaney valley road, so you have one intersection to cross [with the help of a stoplight, no biggy] and you're on our nice green campus. you'll be able to go for walks, no problem.
I don't think you get your email access originally until you come to campus in august, but if you want to tell people what your address will be ahead of time, it will be yourfirstname.lastname@goucher.edu
I second what Raphael says. Walking off campus is pretty fine. Once I walked from the campus to the Barnes & Noble (which is a good mile and a half or so from campus) by myself at around 11 at night and I felt comfortable.
don't listen to her, barnes n noble is probably 200 feet from campus. she's short and has no concept of distance. and my name's not raphael, it's rachel. I don't even know who this girl is. =P
but do listen to her about the safety. I've walked through towson at all hours of the night, never had any reason to feel unsafe. just be very careful crossing roads.
