Hello all!
I'm currently a student at Anne Arundel Community College and I was hoping to join the Goucher family this fall but it was not to be.
I'm planning on staying at AACC another year, take a few more classes and graduate. The original plan was to stay a year and then transfer. This time next year I'll have 64 credits, GPA of 3.85 (hopefully) and an AA degree in english. My plan at Goucher wouldbe to to major in Sociology (con. peace studies). My passion is working with non-profits organizations focusing on youth development. Currently I am employed with Hugh O'brian Youth Seminar of Maryland (also an alum from 2002) assisting with alumni relations and volunteers.
I was wondering if any of you have been through the transfer process at Goucher? Or perhaps know someone who has? My biggest fear, even though admissions has told me an AA won't hurt my chances, is that I'll be too qualified for Goucher. Is that possible? If accpected, I'd only have to remain at Goucher for 2 years. In my mind where logic is found, I feel like they wouldn't want me because they would be passing up a student who would stay for four. But I am a person who lives by faith and it tells me that Goucher would never do something like that. That money isn't important to them (well it is but not solely). *sighs* I feel like I'm in a no-win situation. Can anyone put my fears at ease... please :)
