Le dymenche XIIe, je ne bougé de céans. Estant à la messe, missire Jehan Auvrey me donna une rose blanche cueullye ce jor en son jardin. Yvon Cacharf disna céans et surnommé Blanche, serviteur de Baucquet.

Sunday the 12th, I did not stir from here. Being at mass, Missire Jehan Auvrey gave me a white rose cut today from his garden.1 Yvon Cacharf dined here and [one] surnamed Blanche, servant of Baucquet.

1. This is quite extraordinary, because European roses of the time were not remontant. That is a characteristic that was only introduced in the 19th c. through hybridizing with east Asian species (which in turn were not generally hardy in northern latitudes).
