Yes, completely. For starters, they're hardly even called "house" elves.

Well, I haven't seen it, but if it's capable of passing through fandoms, I'll keep an eye out.

They're not used for anything. They mostly keep to themselves and live their own lives.

House elves would be very unhappy if they had no family to serve. It's interesting that the elves where you're from actually prefer to be out of employ.

I see. I had thought it would be something like that. Most elves are too proud to willingly serve a family as such. I know a life of servitude is not something I would prefer, either.
