ok, so i got this new job, and i don't really like it. it doesn't really feel like a big step up. when i agreed to take the position, they made it seem like some big important deal. i had already told them i didn't want to be sitting at a desk making follow-up calls and such. blatantly, i told them "i want as little to do with the service department as possible. i do not want to deal with service customers. period." BUT, finally, out of desperation to get myself away from the front desk, i said "ok fine, i'll go into service."
im not happy with my decision. i mean, im happy to be away from the front desk, but im STILL not happy with the job i clock in for everyday. sure, im happy to be learning something new, and im going to suck in as much knowlege possible, but i realize i am not giving it my best effort. im not at all showing the initiative i know i could- the initiative i know i WOULD show if this company would give me more than a meer entry-level opportunity. but it seems like they arent willing to give the couple weeks of training that it would take to get me fluent in anything else.
its like they dont hear me screaming. i want something away from the constant phone lines. i would like a job that makes me feel as if im actually PRODUCING something. i dont want to go home thinking "wow, i answered a ton of calls today". i would like to, instead, say "wow, i got a lot done today."
i understand that i have a way in customer service. but throw me a motherfucking bone here. if youre not going to give me a chance to show my KNOWLEGE, more than just my PATIENCE, compensate me. i was told in SEPTEMBER that we would discuss a pay-raise. i questioned it more than a few months later and i was told it would come in january. ok, then in FEBRUARY i was told it would happen in APRIL. how am i supposed to show appriciation towards management when my manager's word is not fulfilled?
so now im in this new position, and its the exact thing i said i DID NOT want to be put into. waiting for a phone to ring, and/or making phone calls that begin with "our records show its time to schedule your appointment" OR "hi, im calling to see if youre ready to schedule your ______". I DONT WANT TO WORK FOR A CALL CENTER.
so im thinking i might start looking for something new.
ive NEVER come out of a conversation with any manger, feeling like my opinion means something. they night listen to my words, but they dont act upon my suggestions/feelings. anythime i vouce my opinion i am told to "calm down" or "dont take it personal".
im tired of being a minion customer service rep. i think its time to move on.
