Today I am grateful for:
Pleasant weather today. Only about -6, and sunny.
The very large dog jacket actually worked for Brownie, after I found a creative way to close the front to overlap, and make the neck hole a lot smaller and take up some of the length. The belly band fit pretty well after all, and it's not bad. It's still a little long at the back, but it doesn't drag or anything.
I put it on her and let her go back into the pen outside. I stayed and watched her for about an hour, to see that she got used to it, could run around without it twisting or bothering her, and to see how the other animals reacted. Sometimes an animal that "looks different" can get picked on. She wasn't real happy at first, but after a while she seemed okay, and went back to eating, and the other animals were curious about the blanket, but ignored it after a while.
I did an extra check after a couple of hours, and it had stayed in place and she seemed comfortable.
So, while I may not have all the answers to her issue of shedding, at least for now she can be outside (unless it gets really cold) and comfortable. This jacket might even be a little too warm for the intermediate temperatures above zero, but she will still need something until temperatures are consistently above about 10 C, so maybe by the end of May.
I came in, and worked on sewing up that blanket liner that got torn up a while ago. It has been pretty time-consuming, but blankets are expensive, and I CAN fix it, so I guess I will. I am almost done, a few little bits left to sew up.
My sweetie is away at work, but tonight he said that a bunch of people were going bowling again (they did this a while ago). He said it was fun, and that the bowling alley looked like it had been there for at least 50 years. Five pin.
Today I learned that actor Christian Bale, who is British, will use an American accent in promotional events for films where he also plays an American, so as not to confuse people and to stay with the persona of the character.
