Because it is the right thing, the proper thing, that a scientist should do. Because it keeps us all rooted in rationality.
But I am heartened, and impressed by the small things that the new American administration does. Little details that say that they "get it". And that maybe, just maybe, after years of being told one thing as another is done, with rampant and rabid insistence that the two are the same thing, this time, the words will match reality.
