Because of one simple fact. There is something, an issue, that exists here, just as it exists anywhere else, as far as I know.

Two people might come across one another, and in doing so, they will find this answer.

"I am different from you."

That is why conflict occurs, why there is strife, why there is war. [The utter joy and love he has for that last word is obvious in his voice as he speaks it.] And as long as this continues to be the case, there will always be a lack of harmony.

Unfortunately, I also think it's a wrong one. Everypony is different, but we've also been blessed with the means to understand one another despite that.

If we were all the same, that'd be boring!

And yet, untrue! As long as man or monster or any creature might live upon this rock, they will find a reason to war with one another. It's what we thrive on.

It certainly would be boring if we were all the same! I'm highly against it, myself! And yet, it is the reason for conflict!

I'm sorry, I can't agree with that at all. Conflict may be born from difference but so to is the ability to learn from each other.

I'm uncertain how things might work where you're from, Fraulein, but one is far more common in my world than yours, among humans than perhaps among other creatures.

You humans are a little strange, yes. But I haven't seen anything in your kind that tells me you're beyond befriending somepony different.

Oh friendship certainly isn't beyond us, it merely isn't what we prefer.

Because I'm bored! Because it's what I'm good at! Because the sounds and smells and sights of battle are beautiful beyond compare!

But most of all, because it's fun.
