it's terribly sad that this hilarious and fascinating documentary has received so little attention, it's a total gem. it follows the very fucked up love story of an old new york couple. he was an ambulance chasing lawyer, she was an attractive young girl. they dated off and on for a while and when she broke it off he hired some men to blind her with acid. he goes to prison for a long time, of course. when he is finally released they get fucking MARRIED, and are to this day. now, it sounds nutty when i type it out. but there is so much more to this story that just makes it fundamentally UNBELIEVABLE. it's brilliant in how incredibly torn you are in whether you love, pity, or hate these people. on the one hand it is tempting to think of this woman as pathetic and tragic, but she really isn't in any way and they are the quintessential loveable old bickering couple. he's a raging psychotic asshole, but seems relatively well behaved in marriage. they are total characters and their story is a fun journey to follow. i want everyone to see it.
