what: chronicles of narnia: the lion, the witch, and the wardrobe

it's a showdown between tilda swinton and little lucy for what i liked best about the movie. the girl playing lucy is the cutest little thing, and whether she was smiling or crying i just wanted to eat her up. tilda swinton looked amazing and fierce and has such presence on the screen i nearly peed my pants. otherwise, this movie was pretty mehhh. the cgi was shitty and there were some obnoxious blue screen shots.
i read these books as a child, and while there were many details i was delighted to remember (especially walking through the furs in the wardrobe... oh what great imagery!), i definitely don't remember it basically being about a bunch of talking fucking animals. am i wrong? were half the characters in the books just talking mammals?
