I ran (jogged actually) the Susan G. Komen 5-K in 40:23, which I'm pretty happy with. It took me about 1-2 minutes to get to the start line because of crowds, so I may start telling people I did it in 39:23. One bad thing about the breast cancer race is the insane number if strollers. They were everywhere. The kick-ass thing is the shirts, which included "Save the Ta-Tas", "Save Second Base," and "I Love Breasts."
Apparently to some people of below average intelligence, the following equation makes sense:
Breast cancer rally=Women=Feminist=ProChoice
There were actually people carrying red signs with swastikas that said "Hitler was wrong for killing the Jews, you're wrong for abortion." This was at a freaking breast cancer survivor event. Another sign said something about dying for your sins, which was extremely inappropriate given what many of these women have faced and survived. And to be clear, I am not discussing abortion debate at all here and would prefer to not have comments about it. I'm just saying that there is a time and a place for the abortion debate, and the breast cancer 5-K certainly wasn't it. Breast health and abortion are not related.
All my bitching about that aside, I had a great time and am now very tired. And I have 3 weeks to get ready for the Crescent City Classic (10-K). I have lots of work to do...
