(no subject)
I can't believe August is already here... seems like I just got here last week instead of 2 1/2 months ago. Crazy. I'm really gonna miss the Smokies. It's been an incredible summer. So many good times, I don't even know where to start. Here is but a brief list of some of the highlights of this summer:
Caving
Hiking the AT
Finding a hellbender
Watching elk in my backyard
Parties up at the hog house
Experiencing moonshine (some strong shit!)
Giving my weekly night hike
Fresh fruit and vegetables
Playing Mexican Train at Florie's (I cleaned up!)
Wal-mart runs
Mount LeConte
Glow worms
Meeting some awesome people
Tubing down the Oconaluftee River
Cookouts with Cassie, Dan, and Heather
Ms. Norma's cooking... you cannot beat her strawberry-rhubarb pie
Just sitting out on the front steps, drinking beer, talking, and watching the world go by
Of course, there's tons more, but I have to cap it somewhere. After this experience, I'm definitely considering a career with the Park Service. My parents are coming to visit next weekend, so I'm excited to show them around... that and the fact that I haven't seem them in 2 months. After that, it's just a few more days of work, then it's off to Tennessee and Dollywood with Sarah for a couple of days (I have been waiting all summer for Dollywood), then back home to good ol Naptown. There's a chance of a trip down to OBX too. I'm looking forward to going home and seeing everyone before we all head back to school.
