well... here i am, writing my first entry in this, my first blog. hmm. not nearly as exciting as i thought it would be. what to write, what to write...
i guess i should first acknowledge the people (ok, person) who inspired me (unknowingly) to jump on the online journal bandwagon - thanx, Bonnie! I always enjoy reading your insightful and thought-provoking entries... i hope you have a great time looking at "dwarf elliptical galaxies" and whatever else you crazy physicist wannabees do in Flagstaff.
that seems to have jump-started my muse. i love annapolis in the spring time, especially my backyard. it's not very big - there's only about 10 feet of grass before it becomes trees, but it's so peaceful. it's very green right now, filled with tall trees that loom over the house and long vines of ivy that wind their way up the trees. during the summer, the trees are lit up with the tiny lights of hundreds of fireflies. it's like the night sky in miniature.
there's a set of old railroad tracks about 30 feet in that runs all the way to the river, remnants of the WB&A railroad that used to run from D.C. to Baltimore in the early 20th century. kinda cool. for a neighborhood that's less than a mile away from downtown Annapolis, it's remarkably quiet - all you can hear are birds (and the occasional car as it drives by). i love sitting on the back porch and looking out on all of it. it's definitely my personal zen garden.
