I heard on the radio today that Network rail got fined £4m for the health and safety breaches in the Paddington crash. About 30 people died in that if I recall right.
If I recall right Royal Mail got fined a lot heavier for damaging letters, losing letters and the general security of the mail. Cant remember the amount but I think it was in the region of about £8m but maybe someone will know.
It seems that the government is more interested in pieces of paper with ink and stamps on than Human life.
