For what it's worth...
So, on my recent birthday trip, I stayed in two really crappy, creepy hotels that both seemed to conjure up some frightening Bates Motelesque imagery. Thus, when I got ready to take my morning shower in those two hotels, I went out to my car, dug my softball bat out of my trunk, and since it's metal, I kept in the shower w/ me while I took my shower just in case, because ya never really know.
That got me to thinking, and I'll bet that no one reading this can argue w/ this logic, but I'll bet that the movie Psycho would've gone a lot differently if Marion Crane, Janet Leigh's character, had just had a softball bat with her in the shower.
