"The Day of Silence is an annual event held to bring attention to anti-LGBT bullying, harassment and discrimination in schools. Students and teachers nationwide will observe the day in silence to echo the silence that LGBT and ally students face everyday. In it's 11th year, the Day of Silence is one of the largest student-led actions in the country."
It is THIS WEDNESDAY! If you are participating with me(At Granger), LET ME KNOW! I'm bringing 'speaking cards' that say:
"Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their allies in schools. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination. I believe that ending the silence is the first step toward fighting these injustices. Think about the voices you are not hearing today. What are you going to do to end the silence?"
If you would like some find me in the morning at school. Wear shirts, tape, ANYTHING that you will/would write on saying things about this day. I wan't to get as many people as i can to do this with me. I don't expect people to do it out of school, but i am. I want to go around to malls, anywhere public and let people know!
Anyone can do this! It isn't just students. PLEASE! Help out as much as you possibly can.
Even if you are not going to participate, please pass this bulletin on! Anything to let others know who don't know about it! LET'S END THE SILENCE!
